I wonder if any one really wants this to stop.Hamas was formed to fight the existance of israel (i thought). If they were to make peace there group would lose a large amount of there base. They would quickly lose all relevance for there being a hamas.Israel has its own hard liners who make it very hard to comprimise. They had a leader a few years back( wish i could remember his name) who took the stance that negotiations would go forword no matter what hamas blew up.Very smart i thought becouse it took control of the progress away from hamas.Unfortunatly an israely killed him.Im starting to think the wall is the only way to go.Kind of like east and west germany. You keep it there till we get a generation of people who dont remember all of the hate.Than you just need to figure out how to make the palistenian side of the wall a fully functioning country.

UN Secretary General Kofi Annan has demanded that Israel take urgent action to prevent a humanitarian disaster in the Gaza Strip.
In a separate statement, UN agencies including the World Health Organization, Unicef and the World Food Programme said Gaza was on the brink of a public health disaster.
They said there were water shortages and the situation at the sewage plants was now critical.
The WHO said hospitals and health centres - which are having to use their own generators for electricity - have at most two weeks' supply of fuel.
Hamas has confirmed that Cpl Shalit, 19, is alive and is being treated well and humanely.
Indeed. Israel is nowhere to blame for Palestinian hatred against Israel. Oh no's. The hatred is all there because of the Hamas 1987 charter. What a joke.
Again: What is Israel trying to achieve?
And bm: you did not answer my second question - replying to your answer "yes, peace".

QUOTE(Brains)bm: Is there anything that Palestine can offer to the world that would make you happy?
I already answered it, I said peace.
Remember this Brains, if Hamas hadn't taken that guy hostage, there would not be a health problem on the horizon. You act like Israel just decided to attack them for no reason, well there was a reason wasn't there?

ok bm. so what is a cease-fire to you? to me it sounds kind of peaceful...
yes. indeed bm. ONE Israeli soldier was captured - OVER A HUNDRED Palestinians, including quite a good number of civilians, have been killed by Israel over the last two months alone. The least you can say is that this Israeli show of force is exaggerated, no? with them blowing up bridges, power plants, raising farmland, destroying buildings and denying circulation of food. That IS exaggerated for one soldier (who is humanely treated), isn't it? Israel does not even want to discuss. All they seem to be able to think about is "destroy stuff and kill some".

It's been tit for tat since the 60's, how is it now only Israel fault? You asked about a cease-fire, I believe Hamas attacked the Israeli outpost and taking the ONE Israeli hostage. How do you spin this to Israel breaking the cease-fire? I can't wait for your answer on this one.

no bm. it was not hamas taking the ONE israeli soldier. it was other palestinians.
hamas still observes a cease-fire. how is that not peaceful to you?
again: i am not saying it is ALL israel's fault, but you have to agree that the least you can say is that this Israeli show of force now because of ONE Israeli soldier is exaggerated, no?
WHAT precisely are they trying to achieve?
and by the way bm: where - in the last 5 years - has Israel observed a cease-fire on its own? i dare you to find ONE month in the last five years, where Israel done that...

Uh... didn't the leader of Hamas tell its security forces to attack the Israelis... and the only reason the militants ever observe a cease-fire is because they need time to re-group and re-arm. lol
