It looks like israel is hoping lebenon will take this opportunity to take control of its southern borders back from hezbula. They might weaken them enough to give them a shot at trying.I like the fact that even saudi araibia is saying hezbula went to far. There saying hezbula doesnt have the right to start border disputs...only the lebenon government has that right.I also like the fact that Iran and sirea's role in this whole thing is being exposed for the world to discuss

i hate to say it, but it seems Ehud Barak's swift decision to pull out of lebanon was premature. this is exactly what his generals were saying. He left because he said this has gotten to where the only course of action we have left is extreme.
and Hezbollah was given a chance. They claimed a VICTORY! and began to amass on the border of israel, arming and spreading throughout Lebanon.
That should have never been allowed.
The entire issue in Lebanon, including a friend's mother who is stuck in a hotel in the middle of beirut, is because Peace was attempted too fast.
Brains, Israel offered the branch of cease-fire just now, according to israeli officials.
They said they would pull out of Lebanon, for their two soldiers back, and if Hezbollah left their borders, and allowed their border to be guarded by the Lebonese army.
Then, Al-Aqsa (the militant wing of Fatah) announced "he we took another on of your guards.
Al-Aqsa is part of the party of Abbas; the guy who ALMOST made peace with Israel, until HAMAS was elected.
and there are still these people in HIS party.
No cease fire can exist if you can't control your own people. Like HAMAS was ready to sign a referendum, and then this shit with the guard took precedence. WHY, because there are members of HAMAS acting of their own accord.
I can't start a club that says "we all hate chinese people", and let people join who want to kill all the chinese, and say "yes I am a member of this club, but I'm not a member of the club who is killing the chinese people."
The actions of the individual represent the the actions of the group.
The members of HAMAS are not nearly organized enough to observe a cease fire. and some of them are damned sick. i mean do you think those people who were on their website talking about drinking the blood of jews and killing them all,.. do you think THEY would have said "oh, wait, we have a cease fire with israel."
...something tells me those people were screwed up beyond the need or respect from leaders of HAMAS to give them permission to blow themselves up in the streets of Israel.
That doesn't mean I like the situation,.. I just don't think an answer is easily forthcoming.
If IDF did not retaliate in relatively measured force, the Jewish extremist groups would dominate the response of attacks on Israel, and some of those groups are scarier in that the civilian militia of israel is one of most heavily trained due to their draft, simply because of the constant state of warfare, and conflict situation training.
If Israel became a terrorist state, not even the UN could contain it. And the extremist who seek control in Israel are far more frightening than the ones who seek control in Palestine. They are better trained, better educated, and in general have the capacity to be better armed. And these groups grew in numbers after israel tried to play "turn the other cheek" in response to bus bombings in the late '80s.
http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/shows/israel/ is something everyone who thinks all the agression in islamic. i know better, but what in the hell could Al-Aqsa hope to accomplish but more suffering for the people of palestine from Israel frustration at this purely idiotic move?
Israel can't just stand by and allow this. Extremist groups will take justice into their own hands. That would result in a assassination of Olmert, a political coup, and then complete focus of the power of israel upon her enemies, starting with all muslims in Israel.
...some of the most dangerous people you will never know are in these shadowy groups of Israel, where they carry out the traditions of the Assassins who were dispatched by those who set to put Solomon on the throne of David, to kill all who could challenge his claim to the throne, including his brother. and they never left during the Diaspora.

I was just reading an article on CNN... there's no way it's just Hezbollah attacking Israel... no fucking way.
And Hezbollah should be thrown out of the government... they shouldn't be allowed to sit in Parliament while this shit is going on.
Won't happen, though...
And why are Annan and Blair only talking about putting a peace force along the Israeli/Lebanon border? Why aren't Syria and Iran being held accountable... god this shit frustrates me...

c'mon Kramer, you were a kid once.
it's like Hezbollah wants to be in the cool kids club, and hangs with Syria and Iran, but they don't EXACTLY have a country yet. so they nip at the heels of the big kids, who have already overthrown countries..
and those big kids make him do stuff, like stealing candy from the store. and they don't give a damn if the lil Hezbollah gets caught.
you can only make sense of these groups if you think like a kid in grade school, back when the size of your fist determined how long you could hold your lunch money.

Hey raum, I'm watching Anderson Cooper on CNN right now with the pa, and he just had a segment that said Israel has asked the Lebanese army to help them battle Hezbollah, but the Lebanese president has said no. What the fuck?
You said the Lebanese had offered to help Israel fight Hezbollah when they first happened. What's changed? To me, this hardly seems like the time for grudges and petty arguments: "We offered to help, you bombed us, so fuck you."

I bet Anderson Cooper is speaking about the revolution last March-April, 2005 after the expulsion of Syria FINALLY! after the assassanation of the Lebanese Prime Minister.
Israel said "woot! let's kill Hezbollah!" HEZBOLLAH's numbers grew tremendously, and Iran began streaming people in.. and Shiite Muslims gained a heavy population base. So Israel said that, and Lebanon said "they are all that protects us from you invading, which you have done three times. We need something there. UN troops or US Troops. UN sent 2,000. Bush said "lets give Hezbollah a chance and let em disarm." http://www.cnn.com/2005/ALLPOLITICS/03/ ... hezbollah/
Then UN says Hezbollah can keep arms and join Military. Lebanon says OK. HEzbollah says "sure..."
hezbollah remains distinct agrows in numbers and influence, and starts really amping the public support. most people are not fooled, though.
