Man, this fucking sucks...

The only thing on in this house when I'm working is this laptop...I've been checking my meter regularly though, and I've noticed that my local PC does not have rates posted...When I called to rip someone a new ass, they told me, 'they didn't know how it was calcuated' despite me having 2 variables of a 3 variable equation...

Also remember alot of appliances use electricity even when they are not "turned on"

I unplugged all that silly kitchen crap when it's not needed and pulled my bill down about 8 bucks.

What is your local PC? If you can give me a name I might can do some homework.

Before I bought this house, I would get cards in the mail to read my meter with and send in. Then about twice a year they would do a physical check to make sure you were accurate. I liked that system, but I guess other tryed to abuse it.

Haha, A, no, I don't. I still sleep with the slider open on the deck. Its sweet down here. I've extended a visit once or twice to you, have I not?

Another thing too is change all of your light bulbs to low-wattage fluoroescent bulbs. They are only 11 watts but bloody bright, they will save heaps of power. Also too, only turn the lights on where you need them.

Charlie is right about unplugging all of the kitchen stuff. I only plug things in when I need them (plus it is safer than relying on surge protectors). Also, that little red LED in your tv etc. can burn up a HEAP of energy, a nice big chunk of your power bill it is.

In my new house my electric bill was $85 last month. But I had just moved in........so we'll see this month.

Mine is $96.87 for the past six months, I guess I'll get a nice surprise after they get off their lazy asses and check the damn thing.

$200-$300 winter; $500-$600 summer.

their taking you to the bank in a major way, why is it so much during the winter? The winters here in Texas are pretty weak when it comes to being cold.

It's a big house with two teenagers. I'm not quite sure why it's so high.
