Think of it like this.

If your forefathers, forefathers etc., money started off the backs of slaves, then hell yeah... Because slaves worked for that money and would have stood to profit off that money and there work, if they were treated fairly and equally... But they weren't and your bastard ass grandfuckers, started fortunes off of free labor..... just think of the rest of the money gained ass interest on a down payment on your grandfuckers souls...

You have to excuse me if i seem a bit harsh, im fucked up right now.....

But you see, alot of black people claim to be so militant when it comes to race relations, when in fact no one has every called them out of their name... See, before I moved to mississippi, i lived in massachusetts and i had to deal with alot of shit because my mom wanted to live in a all white neighborhood and i had to deal with being spit on, I had a teacher punch me in the lip, they called me the n-bomb like a mtf would call on a dog in this was in the 80's, hell im only 26... I fought every fucking day i went to school just because are ass were black and my mom was paid... So i may be fucked up but my feeling about this run STRONG... Because that era in history still effects me to this day and in ways you will never understand because you are not a BLACK MAN......

So fuck you and the horse you came in on......

you're right I'm only half black and grew up a white looking boy in a black neighborhood- so I will never understand - I have golden tan skin now and long blondish, grey hair with a goatee - Sooooo I've never experienced racism in my life --

Whata crock of BS

The logic doesnt add up-- no matter how that money was earned (it is considered immoral and illegal now and I agree that it should be then and now) noone has any claim or justification to judge someone because of their kin now-- GEt the FUCK over it, move on, its unhealthy!!!!

So should I burn my HS, Bachelors and Masters degree, give my house car, kids, worldly possesions to some poor ethnic family for what some of my forefathers may have done???

Racism is not inherent to whites -- Its not a WHITE thing - Racism is inherent to ignorant idiots- racism is pratcised by all skin colors, ethnicities and religions (ie Thurman, Hitler, Stalin, Sharpton, Malcom X, Hezbollah, Hamas, Osama, Pol Pot)

Naw me and my horse prefer coherent people who dont dwell on the past -- I cant change what happened in the past -- I can make sure it doesnt happen again --

and I OWE NOONE shit for what anyone besides ME has done!!!! 'cept maybe to try and love and understading

TS, I would certainly argue that a large number of people owe you an apology...the ones who spit on you, degraded you, called you racial slurs and the ones in power who should have stopped it.

But you have cause and effect reversed. Whites enslaved blacks because they thought they were inferior - not thought they were inferior because they enslaved them.

The British, who were, as a country abolitionist in the 19th century, were some the most biased, racist, bigoted people who ever walked the planet.

I agree that I do not know what you feel. However, make sure you have your causes straight. In point of fact, much of the bigotry endemic to the north is not racial but economic in origin. Simply put, the northern workers were afraid that freed slaves would take their jobs. Fear is the root of most of this - fear of other, fear of job loss, fear of crime, etc. Fear is generally irrational. To combat fear, one must both be rational and able to deal with and understand the irrational. Emotional responses, as with violent ones, may make us feel better in the short term, but they don't solve problems. Blacks made more strides under MLK's peace oriented tenure than any other time in history. It wasn't until the continuing of the violence of the other side provoked Blacks into violence that the process basically stopped or at least slowed to a halt.

gms: again, as with ts, I don't have a clue as to what it was like. I will say that you are personalizing it - "I have to give up...", etc. In my mind, the question here is whether institutions that had a history of segregation and bias should undo some of what they did in the past. The further things go on, the harder it is to do this in a just way. However, as I stated earlier, much of what Blacks suffer today is only an indirect result of Slavery. A large part of it is due to the Jim Crow laws in force until the 50's along with a failed job of Reconstruction. The first step to dealing with a problem is to acknowledge that there was one. Apologies are one way of doing this. Trying to equalize an imbalanced situation is another. There is *no* way to do this "fairly". The question is not one of fairness but of justice. A set of moral crimes were committed against a large part of the American population. How do they receive justice? I don't know, but saying they don't need it or deserve it seems wrong to me.
