Rodman vs. Globetrotters at All-Star weekend

LAS VEGAS - Basketball's goodwill ambassadors, the Harlem Globetrotters, will take on the Bad Boy All-Stars led by Dennis Rodman for the first time during the 2007 NBA All-Star Weekend in February, organizers said.

Rodman ranks seventh on the NBA's list of longest suspensions with 11 days and a fine of $25,000 for kicking a television photographer in January 1997.

The Globetrotters organization said Rodman has not yet finalized a roster.

The game is expected to be the second of a doubleheader against the Globetrotters, who earlier on Feb. 17 will face their traditional rivals, the New York Nationals. Separate tickets are required for each game.

Carmelo won't appeal 15-game suspension

Nugget punched Knicks' Collins during brawl, won't return until Jan. 20

DENVER - Carmelo Anthony won¢‚¬„¢t appeal his 15-game suspension for his role in the New York Knicks brawl last weekend, according to USA Today and ESPN.com reports.

¢‚¬Å“It is Melo¢‚¬„¢s desire to focus on the issue at hand, not be a distraction to his team and focus on coming back as the best teammate he can be,¢‚¬ Bill Duffy, CEO of BDA Sports, the agency that represents Anthony, told USA Today in Thursday¢‚¬„¢s editions. ¢‚¬Å“He¢‚¬„¢s accepting full responsibility. That¢‚¬„¢s a mature response.¢‚¬

Duffy and Anthony¢‚¬„¢s agent, Calvin Andrews, didn¢‚¬„¢t return calls from The Associated Press on Thursday.

Union director Billy Hunter, who could not confirm Anthony¢‚¬„¢s decision not to appeal, told the AP he spoke with Anthony on Wednesday night.

¢‚¬Å“He wanted to go (with the case), but at the same time he talked about trying to put this thing behind him,¢‚¬ Hunter said. ¢‚¬Å“What he was saying was that he was trying to resurrect his image, that all those things he had put in place over the summer and the $1.5 million contribution to the rec center in Baltimore and the $3 million to Syracuse University for their athletic program. He has just done a litany of other things that were intended to enhance his image, and then he said it was an aberrant instance where he did something kind of impetuously, he got involved in this altercation and his image suffered a blow.

¢‚¬Å“He¢‚¬„¢s trying to come out from under that. So his concern is whether the appeal and associated media interest would further damage him as opposed to him just accepting the penalty imposed by the commissioner, just putting it behind him.¢‚¬

Anthony was scheduled to return to the Nuggets lineup Jan. 20 at Houston. But a blizzard that postponed Denver¢‚¬„¢s Wednesday game with Phoenix, might push back Anthony¢‚¬„¢s return to a Jan. 22 home game against Memphis.

As of Thursday afternoon, the league had yet to receive a letter of appeal from J.R. Smith, who¢‚¬„¢s serving a 10-game suspension.

When Anthony returns, he¢‚¬„¢ll be united with a new teammate ¢‚¬ Allen Iverson, who was acquired by Denver for Andre Miller, Joe Smith and two 2007 first-round picks on Tuesday. The Nuggets also received Ivan McFarlin.

The Nuggets, however, still are looking for a way to get Iverson to town. The Denver airport won¢‚¬„¢t reopen until noon Friday. The Nuggets host Sacramento that evening.

¢‚¬Å“When will he get here? We¢‚¬„¢ve got to ask the weatherman,¢‚¬ said Mark Warkentien, Denver¢‚¬„¢s vice president of basketball operations.

Mavs looked really vunerable during their game against the Warriors. I'm saying Suns all the way

Yeah, the Suns do look good, but for some reason, I'm thinking the Spurs are the darkhorse...I also think that the Bulls are going to finish off the Heat, I think it will be between them or Detroit to come out of the East...

While I do want to give Nash his props...I insist that he is not the MVP of his own team, let alone the league...Nash runs that offense like a gazelle...But...When you look across the board man...That teams starts and ends with The Matrix...Lockdown D...All around game on offense...No team in the league has an answer for him...

Then, when I look and see shit like this...

Amare Stoudemire posted 27 points and 21 rebounds in Sunday's win.

Kwame Brown and Odom can't check Amare...Former league MVP Tim Duncan couldn't either; this is a hopeless plight for LA...Damn...ready up that avatar BZA....Fuck man...

Um...Meanwhile..? The Mavs are getting they shit pushed in, so is the Heat are hot no more...My finals prediction..? Either the Suns vs the Pistons, or the Spurs vs the Pistons...

Can't count out the Bulls though. They looked so good against the Heat. I'm liking them. I can't believe the Mavs choked the way that they did. That was unbelievable. Suns are going all the way now...

I think sometimes its gotta go both ways...

The suns are great in part because of Nash....he's dishin like crazy...but they got 2 other bonafide all stars...

but Nash is great in part because of the system and the team he's on as well...

let's not forget dude wasn't exactly killin shit with the mavericks....so to say steve nash is doing it for the suns is taking something away from the suns who are doing it for Nash to an extent as well

i have to admit that i didn't watch one Golden State game all year (on way to late in the East), but they're looking great right now.

It would be fun to watch them go on a run
