Looking to buy a DSLR Camera

#1

Post by Deepak »

So with my next major purchase of a PS3 cemented in stone for december or early january I'm now looking for my next major purchase.

Im going to buy a new DSLR camera. I would probably like to spend between $2000 and $3000 on it( new zealand dollars ).

Any one have any good suggestion of brands and or type and what lenses to get in the future??

I don't own any but there are many review websites for these.

http://www.cameralabs.com

If I had a chance to get one though I'd definitely go for a Canon.
If any links are down, please send me a PM!

Canon all the way my friend, I think you'll love the fact that you can change lenses without buying a new camera...But, those new Nikons are nice too...I have some friends that are professional photographers, I'll see what recommendations they have and post back...

I have a Canon Rebel SLR, and even though its film, I still love it...

At the begining I did contemplate film but went against the idea as it will be an extra cost assosisated with it. Rather just get a digital one and take the pics off and put the card back in.

But yes Uber, please get the reccomendations because my knowledge on camera technology is pretty limited. I m going for a dslr because when ever I have used your everyday run of the mill camera it frustrates me how long it takes for the shutter to go down and take the picture. So thats my im chosing an SLR type rather then just normal digital camera

I have a Canon rebel xti which I really like.
with your budget I think u could get a mid-range camera and another decent lens to go with it.
I would go for Canon or Nikon because they are so well known for their lens quality.
there is a while lot more you get out of a DSLR compared to a point and shoot than just variable shutter speed, but I think it depends how much you want to get into photography in general.

I have loved taking photos and feel very limited with just a digital camera and not really getting what i want.

Currently my favorite pick is Canon EOS 7D http://www.cameralabs.com/reviews/Canon_EOS_7D/.

Would love to get some feedback on this bad boy. Thats in my price range I think and the lenses can come later on as well.

He says that the Nikon D7000 is good, but that the D3100 is also great, and not as expensive, which will leave you more money to get lenses...As you are just starting to take great pictures, I think you'd have better experience with the cheaper camera and more lenses, which rocks because you can always keep your lenses...

Thanks guys for all your feedback. Due to some good fortune as part of some misfortune I may be able to get a DSLR camera sooner than I thought.

So my final choice for now is the Canon EOS 600D. Its going to cost me just over $2000 nz and it comes with 2 lenses which is good so i can go ahead and get new lenses later as well.

What do you guys think? Good buy?
