ok, so what C++ compiler do you use and why?
does anyone know enough to help me figure out what to invest in, for a good compiler?
I can already do some programming, just not C++.

I have experience with Visual Basic, and VBA, and thats' about it for programming.

i pretty much started out with Visual Basic as well and let me tell you man its second name is "baby language". there is some amount of programming you do but remember every time u make a textbox or label or whatever kinda window that u program to do what u want u have to do that all in C/C++ from scratch.
i would suggest starting from the beginning in C/C++ maybe getting a good book and taking it from there, and hell maybe we can even work together if you want that, unless your thinking of taking classes.
programming games takes a lot of knowledge in C/C++ so you have to just do all the grunt work to get to know the langauge a bit before you venture off into the gaming world.
good luck!

i am considering school right now,.. full time for about two years.
I have been considering going to school for game design and programming, and I really want to be involved in the development of my ideas.
The applications are endless...
One of my real goals is to use games as a means of spreading information that has been locked inside the halls of the Ancients,.. and just kicking it in VU.
I was suprised to see how far I had really gone for this education.
Now, its all about the technical aspects, and that starts with Algebra (not a prolem) and C++.
I would love all the help and suggestions i could get.
