Damn, when did this topic get all teh love..!!
Well, I wanted to get a debate brewing about the best boxer of all time, as I used to lace up back in the day and feel that I can speak on it...
Plus, the Daddy hat I put on in the Greatest Running Back of All time thread is gettin' a little dusty, and I want another one...

^^
Those are some great fights Paolo...I remember those Hagler fights were on extra value meals...Boxing has taken a long decent, in retospect...It used to be right up there with basketball, football, and baseball, now it's kind of an afterthought...
I think it was the Tyson fight in Japan against Buster Douglas, that exposed corruption, and thus began the decline of the sport...

Yeah, I think the Tyson defeat marked the serious decline as well. Right now I'm watching that Contender....I've become addicted to it.

yea i love boxing, well any fighting whatsoever, except 2 british guys fighting...pussies.
but really boxing is great and i have fun participatiing in events in my area, but the world of boxing is shit now compared to how it was back in the days.
yeah, im not that old to remember watching them on the tube, u know live, but i watch ESPN Classic and thats how i watch the classics.
boxing now sucks. roy jones jr, who was probably the best, is crap now. stop trying to be a rapper roy, it aint happening!!
hopefully one day, onE day before get old and die, boxing will be what it used to be and have some LEGENDS for me to tell my grandkids about!

Oh man...
I confessed my ode of sadness to RJJ in a thread long ago...Man, he fucking broke my heart by not retiring after the Ruiz fight...I didn't want him to give critics any reason to talk shit...After the Ruiz fight, Roy had done something no fighter has done ever...He was my pound for pound greatest, and still is...
But with two Knockouts back to back...After never having even been knocked down before....It's over...Damn, was he great tho...

The Best Boxer of ALL Time was Australian Les Darcy. He got the shitty treatment before Clay/Ali was even a trinkle in his Granddaddies eye.
He refused to fight in WW1 and was trashed for it. As bad as Ali. Very poor treatment. He was a natural Supra-talented boxer. Look him up.
Can i just point out that most US people never ever consider people from other countries when asking who was the best....
Bit like your "World Series" in Baseball, Can Americans be un-biased?
BTW I'M PRO-American as my daddy came from Depew in NY.
