QUOTE(Brains)I would stop all aggression and start negotiation.
Surely nobody is nieve enough to think that this is always a solution that works...But, for the sake of arguement, suppose negotiation talks have gone on for a decade, with neither side willing to cave...
Then what..?
Let me dummy down....
Dude ask me to borrow my pen....I give it to him...
I ask dude for my pen, and he refuses to give it back...I ask nicely...He refuses to give it back...I offer him a different pen, he says No, and continues to keep my pen...He doesn't want to give it back, and I don't want to go home without it...
I hit him in his fucking eye, and he says, "OK man, damn...Sorry..."
I take my pen back...
Israeli planes hit Gaza bridges

haha. well you know what might be the "problem" with me? I can understand some Palestinian aggression, but I really can not understand the exaggerated Israeli aggression. I mean: with this action right now, WHAT are they trying to achieve? They SAID it was to free the soldier - so, make sure that he lives - in the mean time another Israeli soldier got killed... was / is this one man more important than the other one? what is the deceased soldier's parents gonna say? "oh yeah, I totally comprehend that my son's life was less important than the captured one"? I mean: WHAT is Israel trying to achieve?

The book, Shield of Zion, opens with the characteristics of the IDF. The fourth characteristic is as follows:
"The trust and pride of the Israeli people in the IDF. The high degree of motivation for both young and mature adults to serve in the army, the volunteering for fighting units, and the pride in serving in the IDF constitues the backbone of the high professional standards of fighting units on the ground, in the air, and at sea. This motivation is based on the simple and clear-cut realization of the dangers facing the state and each individual citizen. There is no need to explain to an Israeli why he or she must serve in the IDF; the reasons are self-evident. Hence the readiness for personal sacrifice - to give everything for the defense of the state; the city, town or village; the home; the family. The IDF in the eyes of its soldiers is an army that protects 'home' in the most direct meaning of the word. High motivation, combined with the relatively high level of education and intellectual ability of Israel's citizen soldiers, enables the IDF to resort to special modes of fighting. This has proven its efficacy in operations against terrorists along the borders as well as in the raids deep into enemy territory and beyond, as in Operation Entebbe."

It's not about which soldiers life is more important... it's about this: Hence the readiness for personal sacrifice - to give everything for the defense of the state; the city, town or village; the home; the family.
