Think about this for a second

A school of music that studies the rhythm of nature, a school of fashion that studies the elegance of the Universe, a school of design that studies the architecture of the ancients, a school of philosophy that studies the time-tested Truth.

If it can happen it will happen...

Meaning, if you walk out into the middle of a lightning storm holding a kite made of gold string, that if you aren't meant to be struck by lightning, you will not be struck...

Or, just as eerily, if you are sitting within a movie theater, and lightning strikes (this actually happened) you inside, that no matter where you were or what you were doing, lightning would have struck you..

QUOTE(Deepak @ Mar 15 2007, 08:04 AM) Think about this for a second. Last week some time I thought I had lost my uni ID card( you need your ID card if you want to do printing and shit at uni because its like a printing card and ID card in one and you use it to add money to your printing account).

Anyway I had lost my ID card so I went to the office that you go to to get another ID card. It costs $10 bucks. So I pay for it and get my ID card instantly. So Im walking away from there and I m leaving another way I came without even thinking about it. On the way out of the building I hear this lady call out "excuse me " as she too was walking down the stairs. She was limping and asked me if I could carry her books to the bottom of the stairs as they were heavy. So I'm like sure thing. And I take her down to the bottom and all of a sudden I got this urge to take her and her books to where ever she needed to go.

This all was without thinking. On the way there she offers me money. How much was it? $10 bucks. Being the nice guy I'm I refused to take it. Then when we got near where she was supposed to be she offered me another $5 for a cold drink and again I refused. Later that day I was walking home. I have to walk for around 15 minutes from the place where I get of the bus to get home. So I was walking home and I came accorss this intersection and I sorta tripped on something but I didnt fall down.

I looked up and I saw a car turn into the road I was crossing at around 70k's/hr without even looking around. I didnt think of it much at that stage. But a few days later I found my ID card that I had lost.

All this time it was in my wallet BEHIND my licence. A place where i would never put my ID card. And it just flashed me that If that day I had crossed the road... I might have had a accident.

So I think helping that lady that day helped me... just by having this decision that I should help her out. I wasted $10 bucks but in the long run I think i saved my own life.

What you think ?

That's like Sliding Doors right there.

But, better.

In my opinion, in the case of little bro, its time for that lesson he is learning to make him a better man and a better person and fully appreciate the blessings around him, he will be humbled..... You cant avoid the lords lessons, you can only dodge them for a certain amount of time before your placed right in the front of the class room.....

In my case, in 2003 i had moved to the dc area and my wife and I were making alot of money to be honest we had about 2500-3500 left over every month after the bills were paid so we had it to blow, but one night me and some friends we downtown on Ust, and this elderly, homeless, black women dressed in all white, strangly enough, asked me for two cents, two cents now before we ran into her we passed some other homeless people and they all kept asking me for nickles and dime but I made jokes and laughed them off, but I made a huge life changeing mistake when that elderly women came up to me and asked me for two cents. Honestly two or three weeks after that things in my life went drastically down hill, down hill to the point im just now starting to recover. See that elderly women was about 5'6 180-220 and elderly, when she asked me for the money i made a decision to joke and keep walking, but soon as i walked passed her and took a few steps i was riddiled with a feeling that i honestly have never felt before it was like sorrow, guilt and grief*10 but when I turned around to walk back to her and give her some money she was gone I damn near ran down like 6-8 blocks past were I seen here and it wasn't enough time for her to go anywhere significant not in her state...
But after failling the lords pop quiz, and years of extra homework im glad to say i will soon be a graduate of the Lords Hard Head Life Universiy (if you haven't heard about it HHLU look for us next year when we host the NIT). But with all jokes aside, the prediciment or "lessons" as I like to call it, made me a better man, father, person and really humbled me and I appreciate every single last one of them just like lil bro will....

Be careful what you pray for. For me, prayer, or making my wishes known to the universe or anything like that is the equivalent of a personal nuclear bomb. Whether it is "supernatural" or not doesn't really matter to me. It works in ways that I simply don't understand. But when I pray for personal abilities (such as patience) I get opportunities to learn. These are not always pleasant. The year my wife prayed to be less worried about money, we got nuked with money issues until we had to just give up worrying about it and live day to day. And then there was the time I thought I wanted to be holy - man talk about running away scared...

Man, you just gotta love the trial by fire eh Adtz..? Been through that alot myself, and even on this very site...This board is as close to a chronicle of the soul as I'll ever have...Man, we have been burned to the ground more than Salem witches...Yet, the site remains, and we get stronger every day, despite these issues...That is why the Phoenix is our emblem...

What a great word of the day you put up too, Solipsism...I love that word, and have already intergrated it into my vocab...

I too am a subscriber to the belief that the universe is like the force of Star Wars lore...And works in similar ways...Some of us are stronger with the force than others, some don't know how to use it, and are often victim of it...

But I truly believe that there are unavoidables...

Just be aware, that faith has power. To believe something is often to give that something form and power.

Please note that the overwhelming response I get when I pray for guidance:

"Use your free will."

A really enlightening, but totally useless answer. God's plan for us is to act like adults, figure things out and try and make the world a better place. He doesn't tend to get "visibly" involved until we've gone way outside the bounds of safety. And we haven't been overtly stupid. How does one judge the difference between bravery and recklessness?

I think what you put into the universe comes around to you. If you look back in history you can see things such as, "It comes back in 3's"; "Karma is a bitch", that kind of stuff.

Destiny, karma, all of it is pretty good idealizations. Do positive things, think positive thoughts, and positive things happen. Or is it that since you have this "positive" frame of mind your just finding the positive in things rather than the negative.

Can two people go through the same thing and one come out positively and one come out negatively, yes. It's all in how you look at things. The choices you make you have to live with. How you chose to view them is how your life will be set up.

I think its a little more than just positive thinking (which I think is what you were saying). What goes around comes around. Sew the wind, reap the whirlwind (see Middle East...)

I will say, though, that no two people actually go through the same thing. We all carry the baggage in our head with us. Can we overcome our baggage and make something positive come out when everything tells us to expect the worst?

I'm sorry if I wasn't clear. I wasn't trying to say that two people can go through the EXACT same thing, but I'm saying theoretically if two people COULD and one was negative and one was positive, would their outcomes be different due to the thinking.
