Rupert Evans Up for Justice League?
Source: L.
October 23, 2007
Superhero Hype! received this unconfirmed rumor from a scooper going by the title 'L.' today:
Hey! I'm a big fan of your site, and I've always wanted to be a spy. Not in the literal, garrott wire and Russian murdering sense of course, but in the movie rumour way.
So, I thought you guys might be interested in this: About three weeks ago I got to go along to some casting sessions in soho for a movie called Justice League. I didn't know what it was until I saw the character list later. I would have figured it out earlier but with a movie like that one they don't let them actually read from the proper script until they're officially cast.
Anyway, we went through a whole bunch of British actors and some of them were pretty good. But I've heard today that one of them has been cast, or I guess is about to be cast, as Superman. I don't remember his audition, but I was out of the room for a lot of it. Anyway, the guy everyone is talking about is called Rupert Evans.
Hope that's interesting for you.
L.
We'll have to wait and see if it's true. Rupert Evans of course played Agent John Myers in Hellboy.

David Dobkin Takes on The Flash
Source: MTV
October 28, 2007
MTV learned on Saturday at the junket for director David Dobkin's Fred Claus that Warner Bros. has signed the helmer for The Flash. Shawn Levy (Night at the Museum) and David Goyer ("Blade" films) were previously attached to direct.
Dobkin (Wedding Crashers) says his adaptation won't be the character's first appearance in theaters, with the Flash a major part of George Miller's Justice League movie. Dobkin confirmed that his movie will be set in the same universe as Justice League as a direct spin-off.
He added that the Flash they will use is "Wally West."
Created by writer Gardner Fox and artist Harry Lampert, The Flash has the ability to run and move extremely fast, use superhuman reflexes and violate certain laws of physics, like time travel.

Columbus Short Turns Down Green Lantern
Source: MTV
With everyone from Common to Mary Elizabeth Winstead to Jessica Biel funneling through the “Justice League of America” rumor mill almost daily, we have a new name to throw into the mix: Columbus Short.
“I was up for that,” revealed the choreographer-turned-”Stomp the Yard” star, confirming that he has been approached for the part of The Green Lantern. The actor joins a long list of auditioners including T.I., Common and Tyrese Gibson, all of whom have been considered to slip on the most powerful ring in all of comic-dom.
“‘Justice League’ is going to be dope, it’s going to be huge,” grinned the fast-rising star, before dropping a second bomb: “But it’s not the movie for me.”
That’s right - Columbus Short has not only been considered for “Justice League,” but has already turned the filmmakers (including director George Miller) down cold. In joining the ranks of Biel and who knows how many others, Short said that he ultimately decided the script was too much popcorn for his taste.
“I think there comes a point in an actor’s career when he decides what type of actor you want to be,” explained the 25-year-old, who appears in “This Christmas” next month alongside Chris Brown. “[Each actor] decides: I want to do commercial movies, but do I want to go this way? Or do I want to go that way?”
For some time, Short remembered, he was intent on becoming the first major African-American superhero on-screen; these days, however, he’s content to watch somebody else grab the “Justice League” role. “I have a production company, and there was a while there when I was diligently pillaging old comic books, and going online to try and find black comics - and there’s not that many,” he explained. “Green Lantern is about John Stewart; he was one of the only [prominent black heroes].”
Would you have paid to see Short pledging: “In brightest day, in blackest night/No evil shall escape my sight?” If not, who’s your choice for the newest member of the Guardians of the Universe?

Justice League’ Cast Revealed This WEEK
Months upon months of speculation and casting rumors is finally going to come to rest this week as Warner Bros prepares to announce the actors who will play the super heroes so many of us love.
IESB gives us this report:
They tell the IESB that unlike the story ran by the trades, casting is 100% locked. The cast has been chosen and sworn to secrecy but official confirmation will happen sometime this week.
There have been so many names associated with the Justice League throughout the last few months that it would make anybody’s head spin.
I have a question. How the f*ck was WB able to keep the whole casting a secret? There’s no spies, no word of mouth, no accidental leaks, NOTHING! So are you excited to find out the news? I have a feeling that fans around the world are going to be outraged come this weekend. I suggest you guys prepare for the worst (which would include a teeny bopper WB-star filled cast) and hope for the best.
Which actors are you hoping will fill the shoes of your favorite ‘Justice League’ hero?

Justice League Casts Superman, Flash, Green Lantern and Talia
According to our friends over at Firstshowing, some early confirmations have arrived concerning the casting of the new Justice League movie. They are:
Adam Brody (In the Land of Women, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, The O.C.) is The Flash / Wally West.
Common (Smokin’ Aces, American Gangster, Wanted) is Green Lantern / John Stewart.
Scott Porter (Music & Lyrics, Speed Racer, TV’s Friday Night Lights) is Superman / Clark Kent.
Teresa Palmer (The Grudge 2, December Boys) is Talia Al Ghul, the daughter of Ra’s Al Ghul.
More announcements should be coming in the next few days.
i am clueless as to who these guys are (with the exception of Common of course) being a non-tv man the last several years.
do their names ring a bell for anyone else?!?

Latino Review reports:
At Warner Bros., “Justice League of America” finds itself without a shooting script and has options expiring on potential actors who recently were screen tested. As a result, it might have to postpone production.
Sounds like good news to me.
