genetically, clearly it is both, if you consider that you inherit, statistically speaking, half your genetic material from each parent, therefore you are a product of them
but they inherited genetic information from their own parents, hence you are part of a stream of genetic information

behaviourally, you have a smaller contribution (but still significant) from your genetics & a much larger contribution from your parents & wider environment, therefore more from than through.

on another note, why the name change? Orson?

To me, coming through your parents seems to imply that they are just vessels and are not necessary for your existence. Whereas from signals cause.

Since you are nothing before your parents make you, I would say you come from them more than you come through them.

(I am assuming any Divine Will arguments are at rest right now...)
