Re: Captain America
Seems like there are only two possible outcomes for Marvel movies - total screw job, like the Fantastic Four, or as I like to remember it: Jessica Alba's Fantastic Ass In Spandex!
Or well done, like Iron Man. Only the Shadow knows!

Re: Captain America
well i say let's give Marvel the benefit of the doubt now that they have control of most of their characters filmwise. so far they've hit a knockout run with Iron Man. i suspect we may have a 2nd home run with Incredible Hulk. ;)
blame Fox & Sony for the fuck-ups of FF,Spidey3,X3 & Daredevil/Elektra.

Re: Captain America
Bucky was the same age as Cap. After "Steve" was allowed into boot to complete his alter-ego, "Bucky" Barnes was a fellow recruit in boot camp who found out about Steve Rogers being Captain America and extorted him so he could become his sidekick. Making him a "younger" man would be disasterous.
Hopefully this isn't cheesy. Also, I don't really see why a Captain America movie needs to be made.
I think the Avengers movie should come next. Introduce Captain America, and mention some "8 month orientation for him to be the *current* squad leader for the Avengers Initiative. Tony Stark could even say "I know a cry for good PR when I see it. so, we are resurrecting heros from world war II, huh">
Then, Samuel Fury looks him right in the eyes with that bad ass mutha look, and says "I'm sorry Mr. Stark, but the answer to that question is *CLASSIFIED*." Make Tony Stark have a perplexed look as Captain America "ahems" and draws their attention to their first join training presentation before their first field evercise.
The best way to make Cap is if no one REALLY knows if this is the same Cap from 1940's... and it is revealed at a crucial point, even to his teammates.
fan service to Captain America is done... if you get it, you get it... if not, a incessant fanboy will explain it. THEN make people who don't know cap like cap, and THEN do his origin movie. Don't force opinion of Cap in the Avengers by making a movie that just will not be a movie you could show Cap from start to finish.

Re: Captain America
That may be so but Bucky was always drawn to look like Robin to Cap's Batman. I remember Stan Lee saying something in an interview about being pressured to come up with sidekicks for some heroes because DC Comics was doing it and DC was outselling Marvel. He said he never liked the idea of sidekicks.raum wrote:Bucky was the same age as Cap. Re: Captain America
Hey man - NEVER - EVER - be afraid or feel sorry to correct me. I am NOT a expert on everything. Comics, however are *really* not my current forte. I have resigned to a "glancer" with some elder lore... alot of the 80's stuff that apparently never happened in this modern comic world.
My reason, is EVERY story has to have an end before it can truly be appreciated, and comics have no material incentive to end the stories. They have bi-weekly incentives to shock, awe, thrill, and even aggravate so people keep buying. But RARELY do they ever get held accountable for a "my bad, this week sucks." In Fact, I bet sales on shitty things like "bone claws" are much better, so that's why we get "how many people will buy every copy of Brand New Day" in the store just to burn em on youtube! Let's send that bish to print." Comics is a money game,.. where the readers just don't matter as much as the sales numbers anymore.
WTF is a "camp mascot". Aren't mascots usually animals?
Thank you for making sure I am not that guy on the internet who is wrong, hehe.

Re: Captain America
Well I for one am looking forward to a Captain America movie. Cap is cool and as long as they have a guy that doesn't look like a wuss (Matt Salinger) or a meathead (guy in the 70's tv movies) play the role with a cool costume and a Nazi Red Skull (yeah no Italian versions need apply) it should be pretty neat. Whoever had a hand in Iron Man have them do the 1940's Captain America.
