Considering Obama was effectively the Challenger to the more seasoned been-around-since-237BC McCain, the young buck held his own. I do not think there was a clear winner, but on McCain's foreign policy turf, Barack held his own.

Did McCain mention anything or get excited about anything except the war..?

Like, me being able to pay for my gas..? Being able to send Ra to college..? No..? I didn't miss it..? OK...Just checking...

John is excited about and knows war...But his being a soldier counts against him in this instance...I don't know a soldier that went to Iraq and thinks what they're fighting for is the right thing...Not a one...McCain is the old, Obama is the new...All McCain did was try to appear like he knew everything...I would have respected him more if he didn't try to rally everyone with all this old war hero shit...So old...

McCain laid out no plans...He just talked...He had no steps, and showed no foresight on anything EXCEPT the war...He did not mention a single time, what he would do for me and other people trying to hang onto our middle class status...Barak called him out on all his little BS...Did you see how McCain tried to say Barak voted against the troops..? And Barak quickly rolled with the punches and threw a left to the body and one to the head..?

McCain is just old politics man...And the majority of the nation agrees with me...Whew...

YES. I was drunk as hell and I saw it several times. But he also seems to get that even on our own TV's, our enemies see us. (sophmoric i know, and i am in trouble with the woman, but for me, that is not a recurring thing. I mean second time I was drunk in three months.)

Like, me being able to pay for my gas..? Being able to send Ra to college..? No..? I didn't miss it..? OK...Just checking...

He said he wants YOU to be able to afford it. Foreign Oil prices raise our gas dollars. Obama's proposed spending plan is going to get revised. Obama mentions education. So what? you do realize McCain has actually fought on the stance schools are crazy with that tuition, right? The implications of cutting spending, cutting taxes, domesticating our economy and getting rid of the contractor no-bid contracts that Bill Clinton created and gave to Halliburton right now are far greater than what Obama plans.

Seriously be real... Where is obama getting all this money? Taxes and selling debt to other countries. He *says* he is going to only tax the rich. Hmm,.. ain't I heard that before? Do you know how easy "the rich" can go to zero taxable income? Shit, I ain't rich by a longshot and I can prolly go to zero taxable income. Lock all money into before tax investments, pop out dividends into credits and gift them to other "rich" people, who in turn gift me their credits.... I don't pay a fucking dime.

I already know something they ain't telling you. the rich are locking income into before tax investments, and padding checking accounts for 4 years survival of no income... just in case Obama wins. Cause that is what they did before when Carter tried the same bullshit. So, who got taxed? The Not Rich. Thanks Carter!

Now, Obama's planned spending would be suicide when we already know there are holes in govt. spending that have to be plugged with 700 billion dollars. I can think of two more that need to get plugged right quick: Pharmaceuticals and State Roads.

As far as foreign policy goes, Obama held his own? HE's never been to half the places we need to address, didn't mention a damn thing about China, never once. he has spoken off the cuff on and off for unconditional talks, said he too will exercise military authority, which he has NEVER had.

Go back and look and listen Obama is running on a more liberal version of Carter's platform. *groan*
McCain said it was done wrong. He showed proof that he knows enough to deal with most of the people in the global theater.
OMG - People the subject was "foreign policy", not "what am i doing for america's citizens." You are rewarding obama for evading the topic of the debate which he knew very little about, and focusing on something you know about when he needed to sound confident.

Here is the things last night's debate about Foreign Policy should have focused on: War in Iraq, dealing with America's tensions and conflicts with nations on the permanent security council (China and Russia), Nuclear Iran and North Korea, Pakistan and Waziristan, Illegal Immigration, Global Customs Initiative (look up this trainwreck waiting to happen), embargos, exchange student programs, immigration reform, curbing support for countries that despise us, Isreal and Palestine, Lebanon ..

you know, FOREIGN POLICY.

"How is my kid getting to college?"
"What about my bills?"
"When can I afford a house?"

ALL GOOD QUESTIONS BUT NOT FOREIGN POLICY.
Obama is being seen as holding his own for almost completely evading the subject?

If McCain rambled off topic to play for the concerns of Americans, even on sound issues - you would all accuse him of being Senile. What about Obama?

you might think that Foreign Policy was a lousy topic for last night - but ABOUT THE ACTUAL TOPIC, what did Obama say that was powerful, effective, or confident?
McCain is just old politics man...And the majority of the nation agrees with me...Whew...
and the majority of the Nation don't know anything about foreign policy, economics, and industry.

And just curious, can you tell me exactly what "old politics" is? Can you give me an example from 20 years ago? I mean even cars have to be twenty years old to be antiques... if not, face it, you are just spouting slogans that you have been fed.

you have been "hoodwinked, bamboozled"...

here is a great article on future partisan candidates and China:

http://www.miamiherald.com/news/world/A ... 88135.html

interesting point:
McCain wrote:We also must recognize, however, that while open trade with Asia is in America's interest, globalization will not automatically benefit every American. That's why we must remain committed to education, retraining and help for displaced workers, regardless of whether their job went away because of trade, technological innovation, or shifts in consumer spending patterns. For Americans who have lost a job, we need to expand opportunities for further education and training that can open new doors. We need to modernize our unemployment insurance system to reflect the reality of the 21st century economy: jobs that go away no longer come back when business rebounds. We need to help displaced workers make ends meet between jobs and move people quickly on to the next opportunity.
Obama says nothing of the impact on the American workforce.

Someone want to criticize Obama for not mentioning that?
