My beef w/the trilogy is that they didn't touch on how GREAT Anakin was...The fall to the dark side would have to be akin to us finding out that Michael Jordan was a child molester...Too much unnecessary back story, and too many hints at awesome shit...IMO, even though I liked the Pod Race, Episode 1 should have started with Qui Gonn and Obi Wan landing on Naboo and heading to the Maul fight...
We don't know anything about the 7 forms of lightsaber training from the movies...Why don't we see why Anakin was heralded at an unprecedented young age as rivaling Master Yoda..? Master Windu (the most powerful Jedi ever, arguably) only lost one light saber battle or sparring match...He lost it to Count Dooku, who got creamed by Anakin at the beginning of E3...Clearly, his flaws were not his power or lack of skill, they were mental...Dude had issues...I know they said they were Slaves, but if we had see Wattoo slap the shit out of Anakin or slap his mom in front of Anakin, some abuse for him to draw into that would allow him to be the terror known as Darth Vader later on...
The Jedi code was a joke, and we know that in the extended universe, that was one of the first things that they shitted on...Anakin said in one of the movies, 'Love is implied'...He was right...You have to think about this in very simple terms IMO, if the Jedi Order allows marriages, Anakin goes on to become the most power force user ever...Like its been said, that part of it moved to fast, we don't fully see or comprehend that the Jedi Order created a monster with their arrogance and complacency...
Episode II should have seen Dark Anakin being born, with him taking the 501st and wiping out the rest of the Jedi...After he became Cyborg, Anakin continued to hunt Jedi...And all the bullshit about him loosing limbs and force potential is bullshit, he was continually haunted by his mental handicaps...It was, and always was about his mental being fucked...The force version of the dumb jock, the guy in your school who scored 30 points in a basketball game, scored 4 touchdowns in football, hit 25 homers in baseball, but can't fucking pass Alegbra I....
We know nothing about Sith Alchemy and how Anakin pretty much master both sides of the force before the epic ending of ROTJ...
I guess telling so much of that would have made the story much darker than maybe a PG would allow, which is why I am thankful for the cartoons that did address some of that, as well as the AMAZING TV show that comes on cartoon network now...
But, bitch all we want, there is no movie ever made more visually appealing and amazing than Star Wars...The worlds they create are amazing..A volcanic planet..? I mean, just the things they do are light years ahead of shit we see in other places...Amazing creativity and depth...No prop in any movie will ever be as cool as a lightsaber...Comparing the light saber duels in the prequals to the shit in the original trilogy...It's crazy how much better they were...Obvious reasons aside, but still...There are things to respect about the trilogy that trump the originals hands down, and I've always been a glass half full kinda guy...

Good call on your points Ube. Kinda like I said I think Ep I just coulda been done away with and they coulda just shown Anakin in the Temple to begin with and some sorta mention that his mom was a slave to Jabba or something cool. Then slowly show him getting darker through that until he completely turned by the end of II and III is just a mop up duty of Vader slaughtering the Jedi in the purge.

I dunno...I mean get someone else to fix up the dialogue (lucas could certainly afford someone good, who would work with his "vision") and the "new" starwars movies improve ten fold....
I like that Darth Maul was left with alot of mystery.
I also found Anakins fall to be too short, they coulda really done something more to show palaptines manipulation of him, and less of his manipulation of the senate.
Dooku could have done with a few better lines.
Renton needed some more lines and a better individual story line, seems he got stuck with Anakin making him look stupid.
Sam Jackson could have had some more to share too.
I remember watching ep 1 with a 6 year old who laughed his head off at Jar Jar, and I still think it was ok for lucas to make that a kids movies....but I was disapointed that he didn't deliver on the others(he could have left the Droid Keystone cops act out of the other 2)
I have really tried to like(accept) the terrible frankenstien Nooooooooooooooooooooooo at the end of ep 3 ...but it really is shite.
And the way they had Chewy in it was a complete prick tease...

Never thought it was a question of $. Georgie be disgruntled that the fave in his Star Wars series (The Empire Strikes Back) was done by other folks: Lawrence Kasdan (dialogue/story) & Irvin Kershner (Director). Ha wants to get the same acclaim (HA!) they did. Hence his idiotic tactic or writing the prequels & that godawful Indy IV (dude had commissioned a great script by Frank "Shawshank Redemption" Darabont in which featured more of Indy & his dad & ditched said script at the 11th hour in favour of writing it himself. Hence Connery walking off the picture & Georgiboy adding in the tool kid from Transformers. Dude has too many Yes-men around him stroking his ego & his cock.

That I've agreed with for years...he's gone all Michael Jackson (WHEN IT COMES TO YES MEN NOT AN AFFINITY FOR YOUNG BOYS) and gets rid of anyone that disagrees with him.

I think that's the problem in a nutshell. Lucas is one of the few writer/director/producers that has total creative control over one of the most lucrative film franchaises in history.
Star Wars turned out great because of the limitations placed on Lucas in the '70s. Twenty years later we see what George, unhinged, came up with when those limitations were removed....a fucking ronto walking across the screen in the middle of the "
these are not the droids you're looking for" scene, and the obsession with Greedo's gotta shoot first....let's make that perfectly clear....Greedo. Shot. First. And how about emasculating one of the coolest screen villains by restoring the deleted scene with Han and Jabba in the hangar at Mos Eisley. When we were first introduced to Jabba the Hutt in RotJ he was like the John Gotti of the crime world; Han Solo was scared shitless of him. Fast forward to the Special Edition and now Han verbally bitch slaps Jabba like some two bit punk. It's inconsistant with the character's development in RotJ.
Lucas is clearly not as talented as the people he surrounds himself with. He routinely misses the boat when it comes to the cool characters. He thinks Jar Jar Binks while the fans scream Darth Maul. Think back to Boba Fett, a fan favorite who was little more than window dressing to Lucas. What a dick.

Eventually his finances will dwindle like MJ's, He cannot keep fucking the public over by tampering with his classics & putting out a 'newer better' version every few years. Even the die-hards will have to say fuck you.
