I named several already...I mean, if you really want me to take you down through there I can, but...Lets keep it simple...Kobe shoots the 3...And I don't need no youtube clip to show you that MJ was not, by any measure, a prolific outside scorer...Shit, he only attempted 100 3's a season a couple times...
There...There's your one thing... :)

What Dr. J the blueprint for small forwards? Was David Thompson?
If you admit that Jordan is the blueprint for shooting guards how do you not admit that he was a better offensive player?
Its as if time has given you amnesia on his game. Explain to me where Kobe's game is better and how he didn't benefit from watching MJ perfect it before him.

"In his first season, he did not have outstanding shooting range and was thought to roam to often on defense resulting from playing trapping defenses in college according to his first NBA coach, Kevin Loughery. Yet, his medium game -- eight to 15-feet from the basket was impressive as evidenced by his .515 field-goal shooting percentage and his steals tended to compensate for his less than stellar straight-up defense. Improvement in both areas would come and he would ultimately be regarded as threat from anywhere on the floor and one of the best ever one-on-one defenders. "
"The rookie's mesmerizing effect was even suggested to have extended to referees as it was said that he was getting veteran preferential treatment allowing him to take that additional step on route to the basket rather than being whistle for a travelling violation. Many assessed that he eluded defenders so easily that he had to be travelling. However, video break down established that his first step was just so quick and that he was not in violation of the rulebook. "

True, Michael wasn't what you would call an automatic three-point shooter, but he was never that throughout his career. In 13 seasons, Michael shot 33.2 percent for his career from beyond the three-point arc, but because of his greatness, once he got on a roll he could shoot you out of a game by hitting three-pointer after three-pointer. Once again though, that was developed over the 13 years.
From the outset of his career, Michael possessed an unparalleled quickness off the dribble, and his ability to dribble with either hand and finish in the lane with an explosion separated him from the rest of the players in the league. Plus, he always backed up his drives with the high shooting percentages, so defending him was nearly impossible. You could never foul him, because he'd go to the line and make 85 percent. What they had in Chicago was this incredible diamond, but a diamond surrounded by less than a playoff-type athlete.

Dude, you're essentially saying the same thing that I did, not sure what your angle is...I said that by measure of having MJ as a predecessor, Kobe has benefited greatly...Nobody is saying MJ wasn't that dude, I was born and raised in Chicago, I have a shitload of MJ basketball cards and autographed memorabilia to make me as big a fanboy as anyone...The article you quoted is saying the same thing that I am...
But I thought the topic was meant for us to be objective, and on that note what you're saying isn't really making sense...Just because he came first he must be better..?
I'm a big fan of cars...I love the '69 Charger...Its 426 Hemi owns all...But the new SRT Hemi has just as much horsepower on the top end, has MDS, and other advancements that make it overall, a more awesome engine...The new Hemi benefits from having come along after the 426...It's a better engine in many ways, period...Fuel economy, for example...
Now, if I were building a car, and I had my choice, would I pick the new Hemi over the old, fuck no...I'm going w/the old Hemi for personal reasons...But its not because it's a better one...
Nothing in that article you posted proves any point you're making...All it does is prove that others acknowledge him as being the 426 Hemi...Kobe is the SRT Hemi...End of story, unless you have another point you want to try to make on the matter...

Yeah I'm failing to see what point you're making in terms of how exactly MJ has more skills in his offensive game than Kobe...
I've conceded to everything you're saying....that MJ is the blueprint, that everyone looks up to him, that he is the GOAT.... but none of that has any relevance on who is more skilled with the ball in their hands....
This reminds me of an earlier conversation we had about Melo being more skilled than Lebron... that has nothing to do with who puts up more points, who has more rings when its all said and done, who is "the man" who wins MVPs....its about having a skill set, talent with the ball offensively...
This obsession with the media darlings of certain generations really clouds people's judgments and opinion on things, huh? Can no one be objective anymore?

Alot of things you credit for Jordan has already done. Like you said earlier about practicing left handed and playing left handed. Jordan already did that. My point is how is kobe better?
I'm not saying Kobe isn't a beast. But Mike was a BEAST as well. I see no factual evidence that proves to me that he was more of a beast than MJ.

I mean, I said it several times...He's a better outside scorer for one...And I've never seen MJ play or shoot left handed, I don't remember him being hurt...In the All Star game, Kobe shook left, shook right, and then shot an 18 foot left handed jumper...I ain't never seen MJ do that...Not saying that he couldn't, just that he didn't...Kobe is a more complete offensive player...If but for no reason than he benefited from having MJ to look up to...
What is it you're suggesting that MJ could do offensively that Kobe could not..? Maybe that would be a better question...
Kobe has scored 81 points in a game...MJ ain't never done that...And it's not the individual accolade I'm favoring, more so how he did it...MJ probably would have fainted trying to score that much...He would have played himself to death...
