Definitely been following the playoffs this year. I'm a huge Blazers fan, so it was a difficult game for me last night. But, with all the injuries we've had this year I'm happy we made it this far!

I see the Thunder winning tonight, but the Lakers winning Game 7.

Love what the Bucks are doing. They close it out tonight.

I feel bad for Denver with George Karl's illness, but they just aren't playing the same as they used to. Utah wins that series.

I'll cover 2nd round games when these are finished

So, how about this... I'm predicting the cavs.... but hoping to be wrong and cheering on the Celtics. Good enough for you?

Well I appreciate the love of my town and especially the cheerleader pic (who's name escapes me but appeared in a non nude Playboy spread a few years back) but my boys dude! You have no faith in my boys! That hurts.

Well I got the Utah game right but missed the other games. It'll be an interesting 2nd round for the Lakers since they have struggled so much with the Thunder.

Here are my predictions for the 2nd round:

Western Conference
San Antonio over Phoenix in 6
Utah over Los Angeles in 7

Eastern Conference
Orlando over ATL/MIL in 5
Cleveland over Boston in 5

LA barely got past the Thunder and they weren't playing well as a team. They just don't have the cohesion that they had last year. Utah is playing extremely well and so I'm pretty confident with that pick

Well my boys choked AGAIN in the 4th quarter. Best 3 quarter team in basketball this year though....sigh...and a good win for the Lakers yesterday (as painful as that is for me to say).

Oh and just incase anyone was wondering the chick above I couldn't remember her name is Alison Preston and here is her lame Playboy shoot. But it woulda been good for Maxim.

Ok now I have to get back to crying for the Celtics. :disappoint:

Man oh man...can you believe I missed an NBA thread? Even with finals this week, I've managed to watch every single playoff game that has been broadcasted on TV.

For what it's worth I'll still include my first round picks.

OUT WEST:

L.A v OKC - Lakers in 6. My reason for this turns out to be exactly what happened and probably will continue to happen with the Lakers. They generally let one game slip--game 3-- (and it was closely contested...by no means do I want to take anything from the Thunder) and then just don't play for one game--game 4. We've seen this numerous times from them last year and throughout the season. Alas, when it matters, they'll close it out with ease.

Utah v Denver - Nuggets in 5. With Linko out, and with me pretty much still coasting on the vision of teh Nugg's I had from last year's playoffs and the few games they WHOOPED the Lakers in this year, I figured they would just cruise through this series. Clearly I was entirely wrong and I'm still not sure wtf happened to them. Credit goes to the Jazz, I know they're a good team...I just thought Denver was a lot better.

Mavs v Spurs - Mavs in 5. With the Butler and Haywood additions, they easily have the best team on paper after the Lakers in the West. Not to mention, the Spurs have been playing like ass all season. It was actually sad to watch some of their games. I knew Manu was healthy again and he is an absolute beast when he is...but man that Mavs team is good....alas, we all know what happened here.

Suns v Blazers - much to my chagrin, suns in 6. I still don't like the Suns...still don't think they have any chance of winning anything significant for years to come....but without Roy...the Blazers lose their identity, leader, and main scoring option. Not to mention, Suns are probably the hottest team going in to the playoffs.

OUT EAST:

Cavs v Bulls - Cavs in 5. Much like the Lakers, I just assumed they would get lazy and drop a game along the line, but still take care of business with no real worry.

Hawks v Bucks - Hawks in 4. Without Bogut, this team gets swept, right? As much as I enjoyed watching the Bucks pull out that victory in game 5 (or was it game 4? I can't remmber, the one they stormed back in the 4th) this series, without a doubt, was about the Hawks choking away/not caring about games. This should have been a sweep.

Celtics v Heat - Celtics in 4. Don't ask me about my logic here...but for some reason I just figured they'd steamroll the heat and sweep them. Given that I didn't pick the Cavs or Lakers to sweep and they both faced weaker teams without a player who is capable of single handedly wining a game like D Wade is(Durant does not qualify for this in the playoffs yet because his lack of experience) AND the Celtics (of the four big ones) are the most likely to take nights off and not really care (see: the entire regular season) ...you'd think I would have extended the series longer, but nope..I had faith in them lol.

Magic v Bobcats - Magic in 5. No real logic here, just figured the bobcats were fiesty enough to steal a game.

Obviously everyone knows how the first round went...so on to the second!

L.A. V Utah - Lakers in 5.
Anyone who knows anything about basketball understands that while Utah is a great offensive team and probably won't have a problem scoring on the Lakers...they are just about the worst matchup ever defensively for them. Seriously of all the teams in the NBA for the Jazz to defend, they would probably fare worst against the Lakers every time. Lakers will probably drop the first game in Utah because the same reasons they lost two in OKC and a bunch in Houston last year...etc, etc.

The fact is, they can (and will) win whenever they want to in this series. You saw it in game one, just murdered them for three quarters from the tip...and then kinda sucked it up in the fourth, only to take complete control again in the last four minutes. It's almost like they enjoy toying with teams and letting them know they can impose their will whenever they please. Unforunately it doesn't always work that way, sometimes the balls won't fall in, they'll get some bad bounces and calls, and they'll end up losing a game or two...but there is just NO doubt that LA wins this series.

SA V Phoenix. - Spurs in 6.
Time and time again it has been shown that the spurs are the sun's kryponite. While I'm not relying on that to make this pick...the Spurs finally woke up in the playoffs. I mean, I should have seen it coming, they do this every year...but man oh man did they really do it well this year. Limiting Duncan and Parker's minutes all season so they can be fresh for the playoffs, and Manu is finally healthy again? This is a tough team to beat, particularly for the Suns who don't match up well with them. For one, Nash just does not play defense, Parker will be able to facilitate all over him...and Manu is gonna eat whoever guards him alive. J Rich (for the Suns) will have to play out of his mind to keep them in the series (Because I don't see Amare outproducing Timmy D enough to make that matchup even matter). Suns are still hot, and do seem to have good chemistry...so I think they'll stick around for a bit, but lose in the end.

Cavs v Celtics - Celtics in 7.

Man this is a tough one for me. Just like the Spurs did, the Celtics pretty much turned it on for the playoffs. On paper, they still ahve the second best roster in the league (only behind LA) and I still trust Pierce over LBJ when it counts in a long series. The team goes as Rondo goes, and I think their experience will win out. Cavs have much better depth and Jamison presents a horrible matchup problem for KG, but I just am not convinced that the Cavs have what it takes against a great team.

Magic v Hawks - Magic in 4.

Hawks don't even have what it takes to play with them, and it has been shown time and time again, even when the Hawks DO have what it takes (and even are much better) they still manage to lose a few games. People may not have realized how poorly VC and Howard played offensively in the series against Char, and they still swept them pretty easily. More of the same here as you can expect better production from those two.

And to TT (and please don't cry that I'm like picking on you or being a homer for my Lakers) it's just clear you don't watch a whole lot of basketball man.

How can you possibly say the Lakers "barely got past" the Thunder?

I just don't get this crap (and you're not the only one who says it). In the regular season, you play for homecourt advantadge. Once in the playoffs...the home team is never in danger until they lose on their home court. As long as you take care of buisness at home (and there was no reason to assume that teh Lakers were incapable of doing that in the OKC series) you'll be fine. These are the defending champs...dropping two games in OKC isn't a big deal...

Some people probably will point to game 4...but that's nothing new...the Lakers do that shit every year. And then they also come out and do what happened in game 5.....beat the breaks off the Thunder to prove they don't belong.

The Lakers are a team with the greatest coach in NBA history and a ton of veteran players who have been around the block before. There is no reason to panic for losing some road games (As long as you have home court). Losing games 3 and 4 in no way, shape, or form meant the Lakers still didn't have complete control over the series.

Not only is there no reason to panic in LA after the Thunder series, but as I stated before, Utah has a terrible time guarding the Lakers. Bill Plaschke, a sports columnist out in LA (people may know him from Around the Horn) even went so far as to call this series an intermission for the Lakers. You've got to be kidding that you actually think the Jazz are going to win...

As for me, what I think and what I picked have nothing to do with each other... :p
I'm a fan - so I'll stick with my team.

I went 7 of 8 in the first round, and probably took more risk in my picks for round 2. Right or wrong, I really don't care... I'm just enjoying the games. (But it is still kind of fun to say "I was right"...LOL)

But even you admitted that it probably won't happen, and you're just rooting for you team. Nothing wrong with that at all. I really like the Jazz too, I just don't think they have the goods at ALL to compete with the Lakers.

Quick side note: over/under 95 % that Carlos Boozer is not a Jazz next season ?

Would hate to see him go... something ironic about a guy named "Boozer" living in the dry Mormon town of SLC.
