My only question with the reboot is how young they are going. Some saying that it is going to be Pete in his high school days and some think it might be in college days where it should be.

If they go the high school days they have the Ultimate spiderman cartoon that came out the last year ago. Where Gwen is alive.

Now if they go with his college days I could see Blondes like:

Emily Rose (On the scifi show Haven and voice actress for Elena in Uncharted 1 and Uncharted 2.)

Or Maybe Julia Stiles:

(She should have been Gwen/MJ in the original movies but I digress.)

Or if they want to go foreign with casting of Gwen they could pick:

Yvonne Strohovski (Hottie from Chuck and Voice Actress for Miranda in Mass Effect 2)

But I don't if these women are to "old" to play of the new kid since I have no reference for how old he is or how old he sounds.

I think Julia Stiles is too long in tooth for whatever era they use and not really what I'd think of as a hot Gwen Stacey but if they want to go the homely MJ route again this go around I think she'd be good. The other girls are more than apt.

Would you consider Erika Christensen to long in the tooth or homely?

Or Autumn Reeser?

I could really see Autumn playing Mary Jane in a brief cameo the new movies.

Spider-Man's first several years had no girlfriend. Holding hands with Betty Brant doesn't count. He never hit anything until he got to college when MJ & Gwen came into the picture. I think the main problem I had with the previous films was they focused too much on "Saving The Love Interest". All 3 damn movies. What was the final battle in all of 'em: Spidey saving MJ from <insert villain> who kidnapped her. Fail. This reboot promises to focus even more intently on girl drama as it is modeled after Brian Bendis' emo Ultimate Spider-Man. A series that took 6 issues just to crank out the origin story, which was done so masterfully by Stan Lee & Steve Ditko in 12 short pages. I'll not be seeing this @ the multiplex.

Correctomundo Jig! I'll see it but I have low low low expectations for it. They have to tone down the romance stuff and keep it background but I think they'll try and overload on that cause so many people like that about the first two. I was never a big fan of any of those movies. Except for the Spidey costume itself which was excellent I was kinda like "meh" through all of em. I remember an interview with Dunst and her saying how MJ wasn't just a typical damsel in distress screaming all the time like Vickie Vale in the first Batman movie.....then I watched the last three movies and what...exactly....was....she?

That's just it: I'm not sure at all that people were into them for the romance..

This whole thing smacks of Sony making a Spider-Man movie just to keep the film rights to the character from reverting to back to Marvel. If they didn't put one out by 2011 (or at least go into production), that's exactly what would have happened. Check out how transparent their moves have been so far:

*We don't want Sam Raimi using the Vulture & Lizard so we'll call it a day on Spidey 4.

*Sony are pleased to announce that we're rebooting Spider-Man for the hell of it.

*We don't have a script or any ideas yet, but it'll be in 3D cos we wanna jump on that bandwagon.

*We've decided that we'll take Spidey back to high school & base it on Ultimate Spider-Man.

*We've just had Brian Bendis "secretly" tweet to the world that he's involved with it.

*We've added a director who's "Hot" right now in the form of Marc "500 Days Of Summer" Webb. Webb geddit?

*We'll have one of the lower-level minions "leak" each & every cantidate online slowly so buzz builds up.

Tell me that whole lot of crap listed above doesn't stink of Sony execs trying to keep their jobs?..

Serenity Now! Tranparency Oy!

HA! But here's the thing...I'm not even sure Sony can fuck THIS movie up worse than MArvel is doing with their own properties in Thor And Cap. Scary isn't it? :?

R.I.P. Hope for a good Marvel character comic movie in the next 3 years.
