One of my sources erroneously stated that Mankins was a second-year player holding out, and without reading anything further into it, I just assumed "oh, great, here's another Revis."

Still, now with some backstory to it, it becomes more sympatheetic. I don't like how the organization basically twisted his arm into Mankins eating some more humble pie, though I do also think this is par for the course in how the Patriots run themselves, allowing no one commodity (ie "player") to be bigger than the team.

It's foolish on the part of the player when he was about to receive tens of millions of more dollars, but also brave on his part to stand up for himself and not allowed to be "made an example of" and have to basically eat the words he already once apologized for.

It's a mess of a situation.

Post-EDIT:
Now that I re-read what I wrote, most of what I stated above can be loosely translated into what the situation is with Randy Moss now, with his feelings of being "unwanted".

Adding another dimension to the discussions, I'll ask:

what was your favorite (surprise) game of the past week?
what do you think was the best play of the weekend?
any particular story, injury slant, or controversial endgame result you'd like to hit on again?

Basic questions, yeah, but if you have an outline for 'em, I think others (re: you) are more receptive to responding.

Sucks, but I didn't watch much football on TV this weekend, I was able to catch a game in person on Saturday, and it was fantastic...

I haven't even gotten a chance to check out the highlights really, but I'll get it in this weekend on the NFL network, I can tell you that...I fucking hate shitty QB play, and the Jets/Ravens was like pulling teeth...I was able to catch pieces of it...And a bit of the Chiefs game as well...Would have rather been able to catch some of the great college games on, but I'll make up for that this weekend...

I hated to see the Lions loose on such a bullshit type call...Even though it was a bad play by CJ, you still want to feel bad for him and that team...As hard as wins are to come by in the NFL, that must have sucked so much ass...The spirit of the rule was not exercised there, and that's a shame...

I think by far the biggest surprise was that dude in Houston ripping off 200+...I have in in another league, but of course, I didn't play him... **sigh**

And I have another topic I want to discuss, but I'm going to start a new thread...

I had him in our league, Ube, and as consolation, even had I played him,
(would have had to bench S-Jax, F. Gore, or Jamaal for Foster to start) I still would have lost.

It's really a coincidence that I hear my favorite morning talk guys say he prefers points-scored v. head-to-head, and he prefers no waivers vs. having to wait until wednesday or thursday to find out if you "lucked out and won" your guy.

Also the first time I'm the second highest-scoring team one week, who happens to lose to the highest scoring team.
But, enough about the ties of fantasy... (and how it crushes me to win everywhere else but in the AF)

I enjoyed the Dallas x Washington game, but I really hated how much the Washington offense /defense wanted to lose that game.
The way the first half, and then the second half of the game ended, dude, I thought I was in the Twilight Zone.
It was like Ari. v. Pitt. all over again, and my team was denied a victory again in the closing seconds by some BS endzone TD-catch.
Thankfully, though, the best player Washington had started was not Haynesworth, or McNabb, or Orakpo, but actually someone on the other side of the line: Alex Barron.

No, Was + TB are my "home teams" - team 1A and team 1B.

I also root for more secondary teams of Ari. + SD.

And I'm thinking of adopting a tertiary set of teams, probably GB (for their history), and maybe the Ravens (for their mostly consistent hard-nosed defense).

I'd like to adopt another AFC team, but I usually base my choices of teams on 1) if I liked their organization when I first adopted them 2) if I actually once lived in that area and went to a few games, and 3) if I could actually root for that team / live in that area, and not be revolted / in fear for my life.

Example:
I like(d) Detroit to have a better offensive year this season, and Houston as well.
But... I can't really root for either team because 1) I already have GB on my "waiting list", and I can't root for two teams in the same division, and 2) I cannot imagine myself living in either Detroit or Houston for any measure of time without also imagining me being murdered.

So, it's a process.

For right now, my teams are the red ones, ('Skins, Bucs, Cards) plus SD.

I think I like the idea of no waivers as well...I mean, I think players should be rewarded you know..? If I'm paying attention to the game and the league, it almost seems unfair that I should have to wait in line...Guys have breakout games, or study rosters, and then a guy ahead of me on the waiver list who isn't doing the same thing can grab my guy cause he heard it was the trendy thing to do on SportsCenter...I mean, I don't know if we can remove that, or what bad vibes can brew from removing the waiver, but I think it would be worth a shot...

Even better, it would be cool if after the games that week have been decided, that the waiver order is changed to reflect a first come first serve mentality...

ABSOFUCKINLUTELY!! It seems everytime I really need a player and see him available I'm on the bottom of the waiv er list and the next day some big story on EsPN breaks about my intended boy and someone in front of me grabs him. I HATE THAT!!!!!!

Oh and IO as for your choice of teams....I gotta tell ya man have you ever had your IQ measured cause I'll bet it's like Spock's level or something dude. You think the ever lovin shit out of everything!!!

Gah. I can't believe the 'Skins couldn't salt away that lead late, but I am not at all surprised.
For the past 4-10 years, the only good thing the Redskins team has specialized in is losing heartbreakers.

The biggest loss, though, would be if we somehow lost LT Trent Williams for any good measure of time this season.
The running is absolutely nothing at this point, but if we were to lose him, then so, too, would McNabb fall. :disappoint:
