I am having much more success with the Debian version of Mint, using it right now as a matter of fact...It's worth it for me to invest in a faster, larger thumb drive to run it from...

besides the sound from your previous post, what issues did you have with 10 and not debian?
i tried both debian (201012) and 10. debian is now a rolling distro, 10 is not. debian doesn't have the restricted drivers download like 10 does. not sure, but don't think that debian automatically installed third party software like adobe flash and sun java but i think 10 did. there was a couple of other differences that i don't remember. it appears that you need to know more about linux to use debian than 10. performance wise i have not used them enough to notice.

About my sound issue, just to clarify, the sound works, but only through the headphone jack...I have yet to apply a fix in either distro to make it play through the speakers...And the biggest issue with both is still slow internet over Wi-Fi...But, in Debian, it has at least work temporarily, but I haven't been able to pinpoint what I did or didn't do to make it work...I log into speedtest.net once, it works...Log out, log back in and run the test again and its back to the same o...
And there's a slight issue w/Firefox in LMDE, it just seems to prefer its own version of Firefox, Iceweasel or something like that...
I don't have regular Debian, btw, the Mint version based more on Debian...So, its pretty much like M10 as far as I can tell, but with the advantages/disadvantages you mentioned in your post...
