Even Linus Torvalds does not like it.
Linus Torvalds dubs GNOME 3 'unholy mess'
http://www.theregister.co.uk/2011/08/05 ... ome_three/
Linux daddy Linus Torvalds has dropped GNOME 3 in favor of the Xfce graphical desktop interface, dubbing GNOME 3 an "unholy mess".
"While you are at it, could you also fork gnome, and support a gnome-2 environment?" he wrote. "I want my sane interfaces back. I have yet to meet anybody who likes the unholy mess that is gnome-3."
To each his own. Fortunately he's not Steve Jobs and what he says won't force the Linux world in any particular direction.

If Ubuntu continues to shine and the Linux community becomes more user friendly then I believe Linux can make it beyond the niche market it currently resides in.

I want to grow as a Linux user, so I'm not afraid of problems...Which in turn makes a strong community essential...I have had no luck w/the Fedora forums in getting things solved, which is why I'm currently enjoying my SUSE experiment...It's not working exactly like I think its supposed to, but it looks good and works well...The people @ the SUSE forums have been pretty helpful to my n00bness...

Last time I used openSUSE was with version 10.3. Had it running on a laptop and it was great. But there are so many distros running KDE now so SUSE lost my interest.

If you want a really good KDE based distro try out Linux Mint KDE. I was nothing but impressed with it. A good light weight distro is Lubuntu, which runs LXDE. It's really responsive even if you have a higher end rig.

I don't really like KDE...For some reason, Gnome 3 has grown on me so much so, that I've gone through several heartbreaks trying to find a Distro to run it...Fedora 16 kills my computer, and I don't quite care for tinkering in OpenSUSE...

I am back on what has to be my favorite distro, LMDE...I've always liked Mint, I like LMDE better, but when I saw Fedora, I fell in love with G3...So, if I can get LMDE to run Gnome 3, that will put me in a really good place Linux wise...

The only thing I really like about KDE are the plasma desktop widgets.
