QUOTEAlot of players back then were the best. That's like saying every player now is the best. It isn't true. There were some good some bad.

The didn't even intergrate MLB until what, the 60's..? I can't believe that every player in the world that was good at baseball was in the Majors back then...There are players the world will never know that could have made it impossible for Ruth to hit those homeruns...We will never know, but what we do know is that things are different now...The landscape of the 10 best players in MLB right now will be infinitely more dynamic than it would have been in 1950...

That alone renders those numbers a bit insignificant...

^True, it is harder to accomplish feats in all sports now, the competition is just that much better. But, it isn't fair to use that as an excuse to take steriods to increase your chances of accomplishing goals.

that's my point. Even if it is harder, steroids shouldn't be used. I also just learned that Palmeiro tested positive in May and it just came out now. That means he got his 3,000th hit after he failed the test. Conspiracy? They said he appealed the test but still...he should of been suspended during that appeal process

and there's also talk now of him being charged with Perjury to Congress after testifying before them that he never took steroids.

I said that in reference to trash's numbers about decreasing hall membership...

Personally, I fucking say put them all on roids, and let that be the end of it...If they want to hit an extra 10 home runs a year, and then die at 47 as a result, isn't that their perogative..?

My question is this...Do we REALLY, as fans, want players to stop taking the juice..? Baseball already is a fucking mind numbing sport to watch on television, going to the games is great, but shit...Do we want guys not hitting the ball a fucking mile out..? If roids do increase power...But not increase hand eye coordination (the biggest part of baseball) so fucking what..? Roids or not, these guys are amazing athletes...

Steroids may do one thing, but they are not fucking amazing drugs that are GUARANTEED to help you do these amazing things...Or else we'd all be athletes, pending we can afford the juice...Give me a break...That's like me saying I have the most vicious fucking left hook in all of boxing that will paralyze any man I hit with it flush...

But if I can't fucking box, then it don't matter...

I'm sorry if I'm a troll now, but in all of what you just said....only one thing stuck out to me..and I can't get it off my mind now

Roids or not, these guys are amazing athletes...

Baseball players are amazing athletes? Since when?

I bet all the money in my paypal account that you couldn't hit 10 homeruns in a row...I bet my left nut, you couldn't hit a 95 mph fastball over the green monster in Fenway...Every more than that, I bet you couldn't throw out Mini Me from right field while he's trying to stretch a single into a double at 2nd, let alone make the throw to home plate...Please tell me the last time you barehanded a grounder at 3rd, and threw out a dude running as fast as Deion Sanders at first...Send me a clip of you turning a double play, and I will personally send you a tape of me eating a plate full of shit...

** waiting **

Some of that stuff isn't that hard. I play baseball and in the playoffs there are some players who were as fast as hell. Not as fast as Ichiro but pretty damn fast. I played right field that game (I usually play 1st base) and hosed him turning a double into a triple. I've done it.

I've been on the recieving end of double plays all the time. They aren't that hard to do. My 3rd baseman could have won the Gold Glove in the Majors. Divers down the line that he threw bullets to me at first. Slow grounders that he threw across his body for the out. Done.

The only thing that really hasn't been down is hitting a homer over the Green Monster and hitting 10 HR in a row. Do you know what? No Major Leaguer has hit a homer in 10 straight games let alone 10 in a row.

I haven't hit a 95 mph but I have hit a 90 mph. When they're going that fast you really can't tell the difference in that extra 5 mph

No he shouldn't get in the Hall....but only because he lied, broke "the rules" and made himeself look like a total asshole in front of the world.

If he would have said "fuck yeah, I used steroids when they weren't against the rules but now I'm clean" he probably wouln't have been the one that the Commisioner was looking to for clean piss tests.

He made an ass out of the powers that be in baseball and he will now pay the ultimate price.

Not that hard = You aren't in the major leagues...
