The Ark of the Covenant

A school of music that studies the rhythm of nature, a school of fashion that studies the elegance of the Universe, a school of design that studies the architecture of the ancients, a school of philosophy that studies the time-tested Truth.

The construction description builds what would be considered today as a capacitor. The same as used in our electronics. Simply moving it around would build up a static charge that would incapacitate or kill a human who touched it. Once the charge was dissipated it would be safe, but in that day and age, who wants to go second?

Brains, stay the fuck out of here. All you do is troll and it pisses the shit out of everybody. Stay the fuck away
"If there were no eternal consciousness in a man, if at the bottom of everything there were only a wild ferment, a power that twisting in dark passions produced everything great or inconsequential; if an unfathomable insatiable emptiness lay hid beneath everything, what would life be but despair?"

Ruff and Brains, as an American I applaude the use of freedom of speech as a catalyst for brilliance. As Brothers, Fight Ye!

Ruff and Brains, as a citizen of this forum, I enjoy discussing all manner of issue with you both, even when we disagree.

Ruff and Brains, as the moderator of VU, I am asking you to enjoy your freedom of speech ON TOPIC, and to add to a conversation as you attack each other. As Brothers, Fight Ye!

If you really just wanna cheap shot each other, and not add to the flotsam and jetsam that make finding pertinent information on here easy... by all means I will see you in the arena, and I am sure many of the others here feel exactly the same. We have a flame section for a reason - cause when we clash,.. THAT is the topic.

So please, enjoy yourselves, but please take the cheap shots, to the flames section where we can all enjoy it, or take it to a pm.

vertical,
raum

Always got to spoil my fun. Ok, back to the Ark.

Is it not up to each person to decide if they believe in it or not? Ask 5 different people and you will get 5 different answers. Religion is like one long play that never seems to end and is always being rewriten.

tt: i just decided not to go too serious on some posts and forgot this was in the VU. i do respect the VU and did read Deus's comment on our shit-slinging back and forth babbling yesterday and i'll respect it, since there is some amazing info on here. just reacted to ruff there and thought it was funnay. oh hell it was not - while I still laughed. now. loosen up. I am not against individuals (hell. I'd like to have a beer with Pres. Bush). not against America. against what the Bush administration has decided these last 5.5 years. this I am. anyhow. I apologize for hiking a VU thread.

raum: pour les flamands la meme chose, but that was a cool answer you served us.

back to the covenant: it certainly is an intriguing subject. the descriptions here reminded me of the Baghdad batteries (there's a topic on them as well). They are fully functioning batteries, dated to around 2000 years ago. They have been found on Egyption hieroglyhs as well. there is "gold" in the middle (remember I do not remember facts, I remember ideas). don't batteries use a gold-coloured part?

The Ark and historical technologies have always been very interesting indeed. Makes you wonder what once was and what could be huh.

i'm not aware of any battery system which uses gold as an electrode. gold is a fairly inert metal and is unlikely to provide the sort of reactions required. the iraqi batteries, which are a good example of a tech which was lost for many years, use a form of fruit juice as the electrolyte (the liquid substance) and probably iron and copper for the anode and cathode.

shifting back to the ark again, i remember reading that the egyptions used to hold parades with a variety of "arks" at special occasions. i'm fairly sure this is depicted in engravings on several burial chamber walls.

btw a different use for an electrically charged box has occured to me: a safe. it would have provided good protection against theiving hands if several people were killed for having just touched the device. and in time stories become legend, and that in itself serves it's own purpose. though if the ark was kept still for long periods within the holy of holies it is liable that it's charge would have disipated, unless the priesthood was trained to rub the box with special cloths.

Poeople throughout history used items such as Arks, Idols, statues, etc. when having a parade or gathering. I wish there was a way to find the true power of the Ark though... not just a books version of it. History is minipulated by writers, not events.
