Alright...sounds good. So you have the beta version right? Is it worth downloading right now?

the latest beta doesnt work for me, i tried 3 different versions. thats about 10 gigs of downloading to try 3 different versions and none of them worked for me for some reason even though build 5112 worked fine. a lot of people have it working so if u have some spare hard drive space and time download it and play around with it, im pretty sure you will like it. has to be a clean install cant just upgrade to vista.

So who has put this on their computer? Do you like it? Any problems? Do you recommend others to put it on theirs?

Not that anyone's gonna listen to me, but.. lol

Vista - seems like XP that's 'slightly' more secure (should've been done in the first place), much more annoying, and looks better. Not all that much different to XP really. Personally, I'm not going to fork out $200 for upgrade or $450 for new install, nor am I going to download the final, lol

No application issues for me when I tried Beta 2, however, my neighbour, who I got Beta 2 off (he has a proper MSDN subscription, which means legit keys, lol), says he gets random BSODS if you install WinZIP, and I'm sure other programs, such as Quicken or older apps will have issues. Even Microsoft's MSSQL Server 2005 comes up with a 'Compatability Notice' on start for Vista.

Would I recommend it? No freaking way! Would I recommend XP over Mac OSX..? For sure.
But Linux pwnz.. haha

i played with an official beta version for a while...I got so annoyed with all the OS pop-ups that i yanked the power cord from the hard drive I had it installed on and have not booted it up since.

I want the new OFFICE SUITE, screw the new OS.

Do you know if they will be compatible?

BTW: anyone know anyone who has some sway with Open Office?

I have some POWER SUGGESTIONS for Calc, their Excel clone.

So you wouldn't recommend it. That's what I needed to know. I didn't want to download it and then have a whole bunch of hassles with programs or bugs in the system. Thanks...

Vista doesn't seem anything fancy yet. I think I'll wait until Direct X 10 games come out (and compatible graphics cards) before I get too heavily involved in it. Linux has me more interested right now.
