In a supposedly infinite universe it would be rather selfish of us to think we are the only planet with life.

I think that we are the only intelligent life out there. I don't have time to post all the info about it know, but the complexity of Earth and how it's positioned excatly right and the right atmosphere and everything for life, it would be pretty impossible to recreate that for another form of life

However, if you do read it a couple times it makes sense..
My stance on the subject..? No, I don't think we are the only living organisms in space. Not just large things like humans, but micro-bio-organisms are more than likely to be on a planet other than earth. I'm pretty sure they actually found a metor with some in the rock. But, the life that's out there is either way behind us (not being able to travel into space at all, very little, or just not beleive in other life), at our approximate speed (about the same amount of general information about space and transport to other planets), or much further in front of us (seen us previously and not thought of us as very interlectual at the time, or maybe they created the earth, where I'd reference the book 'The Hitch-Hikers Guide to the Galaxy', oh, and don't see the movie, it's shit, go read some books your weirdos) [note that this cannot be correct since time travel into the past is impossible - well, that's my theory anyway].
You also have to take into account the high possibility of alternate and mirror universes (aka parallel dimensions), where there can also be more than one of each.

WTF?!? I haven't posted in this until now. And I like to think (and have had no indication otherwise that my posts are generally understandable).
With that being said, I believe just statistically speaking, the odds of life elsewhere in the universe being damn good. The number of star systems that are available for such life, whatever form it may take, is so huge it boggles the mind. And while there is no definite proof of life in other parts of the universe, there are indicators that it has both existed in the past and may exist presently.
