Only 4WDs are permitted on the roads up north, so unfortunately I won't be going to Kurrimine Beach this weekend.

But my parents are coming down on Monday (Dad has a conference). I heard from them today and they are getting on well, they're optimistic and things are getting done, so I'm glad.

I've been waiting for a big cyclone for quite a while.

But didn't think it hit like that though.

I went up home this weekend and things are still a bit out of shape. People are getting on with things, trees are growing, power is restored etc., but the devastation is still evident. There are houses that are condemned, houses completely demolished and disappeard, gee it makes for a completely different view outside of the front door! Big old trees gone, the hills look greyish because their trees have been stripped of leaves. Some places still are damaged. Cane crops have been killed off and will be replaced with tree plantations. Thankfully my grandfather still has a farm.
My parents are slowly slowly getting things fixed. The roller doors were replaced, and also the roof tiles fixed and replaced. Still the glass door is cracked of their new office, plus part of the under bit of the roof, and the stairs and some of the railing.

may have some photos, not much though.
