Re: 2008 NFL Discussion Thread
Wow. That was a great game last night. Big plays, monster comeback, overtime. What more could have asked for?
Oh, that's right, for it to have been on regular tv so I could have watched it on a full size tv rather than a tiny stream on my computer...

Umph..! Sorry for you ero, I had it in nice, crystal clear HD on the NFL network...That pass Cassell threw at the end of the game probably got him a big contract...It was a great game, but I was reminded how much I hate the NFL overtime...

I thought there used to be an option to delete our posts, which now seems to have disappeared :?:
Well, just for some undue filler, have some TO. ;)

Wow, I didn't know I could watch the highlighted games on NFL.com as well. This could've come in handy a few weeks past, but it's nice to know now.erokero85 wrote:Wow. That was a great game last night. Big plays, monster comeback, overtime. What more could have asked for?

Wellll let's see what else could I have asked for??....hmmm...how bout a PATRIOTS WIN?!?!!?!? Just kidding. Well. Sorta.
It was a fantastic game, but I get a kick outa the media after the game saying this was a changing of the guard. PUH-leasE! The Pats are down to second or third string in most positions and the Jets are fully healthy and I have to hear this crap? Get a clue Mark Schlereth and ESPN will ya? :x

Re:
Indeed...I don't like it...Close games like that are usually good games, the sudden death in the NFL somehow seems like a cop out...That was a big win for the Jets true enough, but...Changing of the guard..? You mean, you get took to the wire by the replacements and now you're the team to beat..? That's laughable indeed...¡ñ±£¿®∆L Ф¶†ïς@п wrote: Because it's sudden death?

Exactly Ube! I think they are far from the dominating team they were when fully healthy and need some serious rebuilding on defense but the changing of the guard thing had me ticked all day on Friday. Anyhoo...off to get my ass handed to me in Fantasy!

Re: 2008 NFL Discussion Thread
You know, as much as I hate ties in sports, I don't mind it in football. It's no like it happens all that often, and it hardly matters in the standings for the playoffs. Next year's draft maybe, but if you're already counting on the draft next year, that says something about your season this year.
And yes I hate the "sudden death" overtime they have now. I think it should be a shortened extra quarter like in basketball. Like a 5-7 minute overtime. That way, if a team can hold the ball for the entire time, well, tough for the defense. Let's be honest, a 5 min drive in the NFL is pretty hard to do in the 4th quarter, let alone overtime. The defense had lots of opportunities to get the ball back. That way you don't just rely on the coin toss, and get rid of "lucky" plays like kick returns, defensive TD's, and blown coverage. Plus coaches can't wuss out and just kick a FG just to score first.
Plus I hate the college overtime since it can go on forever. It's almost the exact opposite of NFL overtime, but it still comes down to who makes the first mistake. And the longer it goes, the play just gets sloppy.
"Changing of the Guard" my eye.... Farve will still be his same turnover self come playoff time.... now if Flacco and the Ravens, or even Edwards and the Bills destroyed the Pats in the playoffs, then maybe. But until you take them out w/ Brady, just take what you can get while you can and get back on the bus.

Re: 2008 NFL Discussion Thread
Overtime in the NFL needs to be like overtime in college football. Each team gets it on the 25 and bashes it out until someone gets stopped. That's the way it needs to be done...
It's not sloppy, it's exciting. It's all about which team can play the best through the entirety of the overtimes. And having to go for 2 after the 3rd OT....genius

"If there were no eternal consciousness in a man, if at the bottom of everything there were only a wild ferment, a power that twisting in dark passions produced everything great or inconsequential; if an unfathomable insatiable emptiness lay hid beneath everything, what would life be but despair?"
