I willl go on record and be the Anti-Trash Talker and pick opposite everything he has except for the Arizona/Carolina tilt.

Haha alright DL bring it on!
"If there were no eternal consciousness in a man, if at the bottom of everything there were only a wild ferment, a power that twisting in dark passions produced everything great or inconsequential; if an unfathomable insatiable emptiness lay hid beneath everything, what would life be but despair?"

Re: 2008 NFL Discussion Thread
Damn, 2 for 2 not bad...!
Arizona vs Carolina - I didn't think the Cards would win last week because they couldn't stop the run...This week, they face probably the best running Duo in the game, all things considered...Can they beat Carolina at home..? I think not...
Baltimore vs Tennessee - Another game I got wrong, I thought the Dolphins would play better than they did, and they had the worst game of their season...Tennessee was hot starting the year, and then tapered off...I want to say that they will win, and they probably will, but I think Baltimore will continue on...
San Diego vs Pittsburgh - Ahh, one I got right..! I'm a Pittsburgh fan, but I think we are seeing the beast of Darren Sproles be born in the NFL...I know the regular season game they played was hella ugly, but who wins ugly games better than the Steelers..? They go on, but San Diego can savor a moral victory if such a thing exists...
Philly vs NY Giants - The ghost of Plaxico will show its ugly head, and the Giants woes of winning at home will return...Westbrook will handle up, and Philly will win...If only so we can see Donovan do that ugly ass dance...I swear that brother has less rhythm than me, and my shit is hurting...

Re: 2008 NFL Discussion Thread
Well, I was 4-for-4 last weekend, but couldn't get logged in here, so I didn't get to post stuff. But I did win 4 6-packs of beer from my boy, so in all, a good weekend! :victory: :booze:
Looks like all of us will have slightly different picks this week.
Cardinals @ Panthers: I think the Cards will keep things rolling w/ Edge and a new focus on defense. The Panthers will lead most of the game, but I don't trust Delhome (sp?) and it's possible to slow down Steve Smith enough to keep the Panther's offense in check. "Smash & Dash" will get yards, but will not have the big runs (10+ yds) they have been getting. The Cards keep it close and Fitzgerald and Warner sneak a late TD in for the win. Steve Breston has a big day too.
Winner: Cardinals 24-20
Eagles @ Giants: Giants come off the bye rested and as healthy as one can hope. Eli avoids the big mistake, and "Earth, Wind and Fire" dominate the game. Jacobs has a big game, but not in total yards, but in big carries. 3rd and short, goalline, and plain punishing the Eagles D and keeping the pressure off Eli. The Westbrook keeps the game close for the first 3 quarters, but the Giants D dominates the 4th quarter. Akers misses a kick for Pilly too.
Winner: Giants 31-20
Ravens @ Titans: If you want big hits, well this is the game of a lifetime for you. Two big time Defenses, two big load running games. This will be a low scoring game where the team that makes the fewer mistakes will win the game. Ray Lewis will absolutely blow-up fatboy "LenWhale" White at least once, if not twice. Chris Johnson also takes a beating but does just enough to win the field position game. Somehow Collins gets a TD for the win. The only chance Baltimore wins is if Ed Reed returns another turnover for a touchdown. Not gonna happen, but he does get a pick, and maybe a fumble recovery.
Winner: Titans 14-10
Chargers @ Steelers: Injury questions on both sides. Can Big Ben hold up? What about LT? LT gets about the same as last game. Not much, but gives the Bolts a quick emotional jumpstart to the game. Willie Parker once again shows he's not healthy and gets shut down, putting the load on Ben's battered shoulders. Sproles gets nowhere near the 300+ yds of last game, but still has a few big plays to keep the Steelers D on their heels. Rivers has a good game, making big throws to Gates and Chambers, even that idiot Vincent Jackson. Once again he shows he should have been voted to the Pro Bowl, not Brett Farve.
Winner: in the shock of the week Chargers 24-17

Ooh, nice one w/the scores ero...I don't think that I'm that brave..! I've sucked horribly at picking...We need to set up some weekly picks in all sports man, that would be cool...Maybe a game of the week type thing for us ball heads looking to improve our genie skills...

Re: 2008 NFL Discussion Thread
Well, since most of us here in the NFL thread are also in the fantasy league, we already have ESPN accounts. We could always use the "Streak for the Cash" game. Just see who can get the longest streak. And if someone here wins the Million, get us here something, like a car, I'd love a Shelby Cobra, but I'd settle for a forum tee. ;) Granted not every game is on the board, but each playoff game should be there. Or just start with this weekend and see who ends up with the best record thru the Superbowl. Maybe a bonus add a point for each win in the streak, i.e. you pick the Giants 2 weeks in a row, you get a bonus point if they win both weeks.Kumicho wrote:Ooh, nice one w/the scores ero...I don't think that I'm that brave..! And no, not brave to put scores, just bored, and wanted to add a little spice to the picks! I was more tickled w/ figuring out how to add the team colors to the "winner" picks. I'm easily amused... lol

CDR!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm working on getting new ones, hopefully a little cheaper than before so everyone can get one that wants one...erokero85 wrote:I'd love a Shelby Cobra, but I'd settle for a forum tee
At any rate, the NFL is much, much more competitive this year...Starting with last years Super Bowl win, everything is topsy turvy...The only team in the NFL preseason that was undefeated..? Yup, the Detroit Lions...What was the science in picking the Browns over the Giants on that Monday night..? I mean, just crazy shit...You could not have told me that Drew Brees would come 15 yards short of Marino's record, and that the Cowboys would have the offense on paper they have and not even be in the Playoffs...Great shit if you're a fan of football, but it must suck if you have a favorite team or something...
