You've gotta admire his loyalty to Bonds but this is insane

I know we've talked about the legal system over i nthe lotto ticket thread, but this is just amazing. This guy is laughing at our legal system because he knows that in the end he will get off and nobody can make him do anything. If they could keep him in jail until he talks to the grand jury, then I bet he'd talk then. No bail... no going home... you sit in there until you decided to obide by our laws. And, if you choose not to, then you can rot in there.

I doubt spending 16 months will convince him to say anything. The guy either loves Bonds or Bonds is paying him an insane amount of money to stay quiet. It won't matter in the end though. The feds really want Bonds and he's going down for something. I wish they would have gone after Selig or at least forced him to resign. I put the blame on this whole baseball scandal on Bud's shoulders.

Ruff, I think they can keep him in jail until he talked to the Grand Jury. He is obstructing justice.

Thats what I thought too. But, I think I heard on either Jim Rome or Dan Patrick that there is a limit to how long her can serve before the punishment becomes cruel/unusual or something. I don't know... the wife was bitching and I had to at least look at her to pretend to pay attention and I got distracted.
Either way, if he won't talk, I would keep him in there. I bet after a year or 2 that money will look less and less appealing.

They can keep him in jail for the length of the remainder of the Grand Jury's term which would mean a total of 16 months in jail for him.

Yes... thats what I heard. I mean I am positive Bonds is slipping him some cash for his services here. A million dollars for 16 months isn't bad work really.

It's now official. The player to be named is believed to be catcher George Kottaras. Since he's on the 40-man roster, it's possible that he won't join the Red Sox until the season ends. Wells figures to take the place of Mike Thompson in San Diego's rotation and could be the No. 2 starter if the club advances to the playoffs. Chan Ho Park, currently on the DL, is likely to join the bullpen if he returns next month.
