I am just going toswitch the 512 for a 1 gig... adds 512 and will run better. If RAM gets cheaper I will max it out, but as it is now I will just run at around 3 gigs of RAM.

Unless you got your motherboard from Sanford and Son, your board will not attempt to run a stick of RAM that is 2700 at the speed of 3200...The increase in number is significant to the amount of data it can handle and process...Mixing and matching sticks is doable, but not recommended...
And unless you have a computer that beasts so levels I hav never seen, you won't see a huge performance gain from adding more RAM to your system, the idea is to find maybe 2 matching Gigs of the best PC3200 RAM you can find, what you'll be looking for is timer ratings, ergo, 5-2-2-2, and then you're cooking with Crisco...If your board is capable of running in dual channell mode, you'd be in for a treat...
Quality...Not quantity...That is always the first rule...

Ya, but how do I figure out if it is capable of doing so? I don't know the first thing about reading hardware configs.

Hmm...There is a Diagnostic program in the workshop that I posted, it should be able to tell you...
Or you may be able to find out by going to Start > Run > and typing msinfo32

System Manufacturer Gateway /sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" /> I seriously doubt they'd hook you up with something nifty, like dual channel...
Why is your paging file so big..? You don't need it that big w/that much RAM...
