i think of Jackman as the Ultimate Wolverine cos he tall too. i dig his take on the character btw. if Wolverine is shithouse, it won't be because of Jackman or the director. it'll be because of the script & the producers trying to shove too many other needless cameos in there that the main story won't get serviced properly. out of all the announced characters by Fox, the only ones part of the integral origin story are Sabertooth & Deadpool. Gambit,Beak & Cyclops need not apply.

kinda wish they still picked some short tough s.o.b. cuzi love seein that size difference in comics right before he fights somebody. it kinda makes him more badass (or fearless) seein him take on the bigger guy

NO- the main beef was not that Jackman is too tall.

He is too young, too clean. Wolvie in the comics is BRUTAL and GRIZZLED. Jackman is hardly either. For Comic Book Logan, sticking his arm in a woodchipper is a viable strategy without blinking. Sucks to be the woodchipper. As for the arm... It's only meat. It'll heal. The pain would cripple most people, but nothing hurt like Kuriko's betrayal, and that part of the heart don't regenerate.

IF in the first movie, Cyclops gave Logan a unitard of body armor, and he tossed it on the floor, and said "save your superhero crap for the kiddies, bub. I was wearing a clownsuit in before you were fryin ants by squinting!" THEN, I would rate this movie a 1/4 star higher on that basis alone.

I am glad someone sees the point. It's not about his stature. It's about his posture.

btw, the "woodchipper" story was part of a great issue, where he was in a trap by arcade with some x-men in murderworld. by the end of it, like 80% of the meat on his arm was gone.

There was this crazy woodchipper thing, and it was completely armored, wovie couldn't scratch it's armored husk, cyclops beamed it, and the beam was reflected. storm emped it, to no effect. and it was unaffected by telekenesis. So to save a mate, wolvie reached in up through the blade, up to his shoulder and coun't reach the "gas line, power chip, navigation system or whatever" and he said "oh yeah" balled his fist up, and "snikt" he killed it.

He pulled out an arm with like 80% of the flesh gone, an spent the rest of the comic one sleeved.

Not saying, Hugh Jackman couldn't be a good logan, just saying the characterization is not what i would say logan is typified as. Think of EVERY Wolverine bad@$$ pose, on t-shirt or comic, and tell me that looks like what Jackman looks like.

Honestly, he looks and behaves like any one of the generic healing feral mutants that is a wolverine knock-off in a spin-off comic. He could be in X-Factor, but he is not THE Logan.

Well I suppose you guys would know better than me. Never was much of a X-Men fan but I thought he pulled off Wolverine ok. I feel the way you do about Toby Maguire as Spidey and the clown who played Dr Doom though. Both bad choices for the characters. Maguire was nerdy enough but couldn't drop a one liner to save his life. And not going to get into the abortion the writing and actor they cooked up for Doom.

Fantastic four could have been called anyting else, has some stylistic changes, name changes, and some *slightly* different elements... and as long as it wasn't called Fantastic Four, I would say "that was an ok movie, with some obvious inspiration from Fantastic Four." Where they screwed up was CALLING it Fantastic Four, and failing to pay homage to the *real* Fantastic Four.

Ironically, the four they have casted are FANTASTIC choices. Wish they wouldn't have foiled that up.

Their simplification of Doctor Doom and their poor treatment oh him was one of the worst Marvel characters I have seen on screen. I feel they have somewhat done the same with Logan to a degree. Logan is way too old. Much like the highlander his age is represented by the years he had lived before he was first killed. So, if he looked 30 when he first died. That is the point where he simply will no age anymore. Thing is, if he died when he was 30 in 1620, he would still look 30 in 2010!! COMPLETE cellular regeneration as discovered by Hank McCoy. But their is the "brain dump" when he dies. When Wolvie died in the comic, it was a big deal, cause he couldn't remember who or what any of the X-Men were and almost turned against them. Basically every telepath in the joint had to help restore his memories. Before then, he went apeshit, and completely wrecked sentinals like they were playdough.

We know Logan is at least 300 years old. We know he was given the name Logan and there is no record of his birth, nor people who remember him as a child, even those who have lived for more than 1,000 years. We know he exists in the far future, and has shown no signs of advanced agning. Hank postulates he may be a FAR older being than he can imagine. He even alluded ONCE that he may be "the" Cain who killed Abel and was left to roam the earth forever. Caliban even said something that sounded similar about him. but Caliban is nuts...

Prior to popular belief, he is not "cranky healing guy with unbreakable bones and claws." God bless Frank Miller for that.
