Actually I'm pretty annoyed with mine. I got an XPS m1330 and the nvidia chipset died last night. Dell are sending a tech out sometime this week to fix it but I wonder how soon it will be before it dies again.

The nvidia 8400 chipset debacle is widely known yet Dell continued to sell them right up until they released their new XPS laptops a month or so ago.

Not only that, but the fan on the laptop runs really loud compared to every other laptop I have ever used.

Once it is repaired I'll probably sell it and get something else.

can I reopen this one guys?

I need a very basic laptop to do internet browsing & word processing. i want something that's cheap but reasonably reliable.
what's the best brand to go for? I have a Dell at the mo & it's not too bad, my Vaio died last year!
also, do you know of any problems with buying it in the US & using it in the Uk (apart from powere supply & keyboard)?

You might wanna check out a netbook too, shi, if that's pretty much the extent of your pc usage...You should get a great bang for your buck...
