Hopefully the team organization discussed to Wallace crystal clear the fact that he will have to take on a reduced role when they went to talk to him. Apparently, Doc Rivers, KG, Paul Pierce, and Ray Allen all traveled to Detroit to persuade him to sign with the team.

I think they signed for Rasheed Wallace because of they will be trading either Big Baby or Leon Powe, which will be losing one of their backup power forwards. Of the two of them, I think they will trade Leon Powe. Wallace has a lot of playoff experience though to help them. The team is now fully loaded with veterans in Ray, Paul, Allen, KG, Wallace.

Overall though, this trade makes them better. I'll say that Boston is the favorite to win the Eastern Conference next season. KG will keep Wallace highly motivated.
It is better to try and fail than to fail to try.

Well, not really. Today was when they could officially sign, but that don't necessarily have to sign today

But, sources are saying that Shawn Marion has been traded to the Mavericks. This would be an excellent trade 3 years ago, but I think it can only be categorized as a decent trade today. He is a better player than his stats show (great fantasy bball player) and teaming him up with Dirk and JKidd should help spread the floor a little. We'll see if he can stay healthy

Also....

Cavs resign Anderson Varejao to a 6 year deal (which is way too long IMO)
Spurs sign Antonio McDyess to a 3 year deal (he probably still has those 3 years in him)

Varejao was expected to resign, so no need talking about that. But think about this Spurs lineup now. Parker, Manu, Jefferson, Duncan, and McDyess? That's solid...

This season's free agent aquisitions will probably pale to what will go down next year...Especially if the Lakers repeat...

The FAs for next year are supposed to rake in the big bucks simply because Lebron, Dwayne Wade, Crhis Bosh, Dirk, Nash, etc are all becoming free agents. But, when the NBA announced the salary cap yesterday they also mentioned that for 2010-11 it may drop another $4-7 million dollars. That would significantly affect how much teams could spend on this high caliber players. This is what the salary cap has looked like/will look like:

2005-06 $49.500M
2006-07 $53.135M
2007-08 $55.630M
2008-09 $58.680M
2009-10 $57.700M
2010-11 $50.4M-$53.6 projected
