Not to mention so much of MJ's offensive game was a credit to his athleticism... He could just blow by people and score at will.
Now see if you're misunderstanding what this whole topic is about, you may think that's a credit to MJ and why he is better than Kobe in terms of this question...but it's not. Being more athletic than someone and always using that to cross and run past people for a dunk makes a damn good, and effective offensive player...but it doesn't mean you have the best skill set in the game...it doesn't make you the most talented.
I'm not saying that all Mike did was run past folks to dunk, or that Kobe doesn't do that from time to time....but Kobe can score in such a huge number of ways..that the sheer vastness of his offensive skill set and abilities is unmatched by anyone, even Mike.
And for the millionth time...I'm not saying (in this thread) that Kobe is a better player than Mike, that he is the best player ever....I'm simply saying, in terms of offensive abilities, Kobe can do more.
This isn't really about statistics and factual evidence....but if we want to focus on nothing else but stats...then I don't see how you can't give the nod to Kobe on 3 point shooting.
Remember that game against Seattle...the one where he didn't hit a 3 pointer until 5:28 left in the second...and by 5:28 in the fourth he was on the bench with the win in the bag. In that span he hit a then NBA record 12 3-pointers...and 9 in a row at one point.
Mike didn't do that. Let me repeat it so it can sink in. In a 2 quarter span...Kobe hit 12 three pointers and at one point made nine in a row....
That's why (if for none of the other reasons) Kobe has a better offensive skill set. The dude can just decide he's gonna focus on 3's and absolutely BURY a team with them. Mike would have kept driving it to the bucket and getting fouled or taking tough shots....he just didn't start shooting and nailing 5-6-7-8-9 3's in a row.
EDIT: eff youu dl1 lol

I mean, I said it several times...He's a better outside scorer for one...And I've never seen MJ play or shoot left handed, I don't remember him being hurt...In the All Star game, Kobe shook left, shook right, and then shot an 18 foot left handed jumper...I ain't never seen MJ do that...Not saying that he couldn't, just that he didn't...Kobe is a more complete offensive player...If but for no reason than he benefited from having MJ to look up to...
What is it you're suggesting that MJ could do offensively that Kobe could not..? Maybe that would be a better question...
Kobe has scored 81 points in a game...MJ ain't never done that...And it's not the individual accolade I'm favoring, more so how he did it...MJ probably would have fainted trying to score that much...He would have played himself to death...
Wow that is on some fanboy epicness. Yall act like Jordan never put back to back 60 point games in the playoffs or win a championship while having the flu. Or Torch a team hitting five 3s in a row at chicago stadium.
Yall make it seem that Jordan is dead and all he did has been wiped from record books and since its years ago his impact is gone.
My point will continue to be that nothing Kobe has done surpasses in my mind what jordan has done on the offensive end.
All this seems like to me is that Kobe is flashy so he automatically gets votes in your mind. But people seem to forget here Jordan was as flashy in a time before HD everything and youtube make your own clips.
It easy for you to discredit Jordan winning dunk contest because he was so gifted you say Drew. But credit Kobe in the same way.
I honestly believe Time has clouded both of yalls judgment.
Let me put this a simple as I can put this:
1. MJ
1b Kobe

You clearly are incapable of understanding the objectivity with which this conversation requires to actually have any point of taking place.
You constantly bring up irrelevant points that have nothing to do with either player's offensive skill sets.
The only two participants who are actually considering the topic at hand, have sided with Kobe...unless someone wants to make a sound argument that actually deals with their offensive skill sets this topic appears to be done with.
So I don't look like I'm just shutting down the topic because I'm incapable of proving my point...let's show what you just posted.
you mentioned MJ winning a championship with the flu...... completely irrelevant
You mentioned an inferior statistic where he made 5 3s.... okay? That falls short to what I brought up about Kobe, so why even mention it? Tayshaun Prince made 5 threes in a row in college...you willing to say he's got a polished outside game too?
My whole point about why you are not understanding this topic can be whittled down to your one statement..which you probably thought was a pretty valid point.
Yall make it seem that Jordan is dead and all he did has been wiped from record books and since its years ago his impact is gone.
This thread has NOTHING to do with his impact...it has nothing to do with his legacy...it has nothing to do with his records.
You are caught up trying to argue who is a better player, who was better at this or that...who had greater appeal, who did what first.... You're not even close to discussing the topic at hand...you're discussing everything BESIDES the exact topic of who has a better offensive skill set.
Then you talk about flash? Flash? When did I bring up flash for why Kobe has a better skill set?
Or the dunk contest? what are you talking about dude? When was that brought up, and how does that prove anything?
You probably also think Lebron has a better offensive skill set than 'Melo.

No way is Kobe remotely better than MJ.
81 point game? He did it against the Raptors - who before that game were 12 games under .500. That's not impressive. He also only had 2 assists for the game. What a team player!
MJ is a 6 time NBA Finals MVP. How many does Kobe have? Oh, he FINALLY just got ONE.
Mind you that I am a Scottie Pippen fan for life so this is NOT personal bias.

....so nobody reads posts huh?
For the millionth time in this thread alone...I am not positing that Kobe is better than MJ.
I am asking who has the better offensive skill set.
Championships do not determine that...Finals MVP's do not determine that....nothing that is remotely team related will help determine that.

First off, if you're admittingly not going to read posts that on are topic (and I can't tell if you were serious or kidding about it, because I'm sure some people do that) then don't say anything of your own.
Secondly....KG isn't even the best PF of this decade lol...how can he be the G.O.A.T ?

Drew changes points more times than a hooker changes panties.
MJ > Kobe until further proof.
