Re: NBA Playoff Picks
Good analysis Drew, I enjoyed it.
I am extremely impressed with how hard the Jazz have played in the playoffs so far despite being without 2 players in their starting lineup -- they have knocked off the only team (in the western conference) that had what it takes to dethrone the defending champs. They have worked really hard.
Unfortunately for them though, their team is just not built to beat a team like the Lakers 4 out of 7 times in a series. Lakers are just a really bad matchup for them. The Lakers just have too much size and it is lopsided. Carlos Boozer and Paul Millsap can hardly get a shot off over the much bigger Andrew Bynum and Pau Gasol.
I am sure that the Lakers were so happy (although they would not say it) that they got to play the Jazz rather than the Nuggets -- they really got a break on that one. Lakers are just a very bad matchup for the Jazz, period.
And seems like the Celtics were just bored in the latter part of the regular season hence their sorry performance. They have indeed really turned it on in this playoffs. I was impressed with the blowout they had in game 2 at Cleveland. I really hope they knock off the Cavs in this series.

It is better to try and fail than to fail to try.

Re: NBA Playoff Picks
As right as I was about the Cavs (that they're extremely overrated and designed to kill it in the regular season which means nothing) and the Lakers (that Utah couldn't hang with them at all) I have been so wrong about the Suns all year lol.
As it stands, I have the Lakers whoopin' them....but a lot of other people are saying I should really be worried about them.
I just don't see how they can guard the Lakers at any position. What say you guys? Maybe a little early to be talking about the next round because the Cavs/Celts are still going..but I'm ready to talk! lol

Re: NBA Playoff Picks
OK - so - I totally fucked up my round 2 picks.... so I might as well continue.
Just because my head (and everyone else I know) says that it will be the Magic in 6 and the Lakers in 5 or 6, I'm going to pick both Boston and the Suns in 7. Sometimes I just feel like being contrary.

I like how you think. And nice spoilers especially on the first one.

Round 3:
As wrong as I have been about the Suns thus far....I just cannot bring myself to pick them to even win 3 games against the Lakers. They may not even win two (or even at all). I just cannot envision them winning. Against the Spurs, I thought the Spurs would take it, but did say if J-Rich played out of his mind (which he did) they would have a chance. I just don't see them having that chance in this series.
And my reasoning is that they, the Lakers, seem to finally be putting it together a little bit. If you watched their series against the Jazz, you'll note that the Lakers never really played particularly well, but at the same time, the Jazz never played particularly bad. The Jazz (a very solid team) played well and tried hard the entire series, they were just consistently outmatched by a better Lakers squad. I think the same thing is going to happen in this series, except I see the Suns just putting up a stinker of a game here and there, and the Lakers maybe losing one. Lakers in 5.
Celtics v Magic.
God this one is hard. Fuck what everyone says, sweeping the Hawks and the Bobcats doesn't mean a goddamn thing. My old high school team could have probably beaten those disinterested, no effort Hawks in a 7-game series (what a disgrace to the NBA they are) and the Bobcats just don't have the goods to compete with a top tier team. So they're 8-0 easy cruise through the first two rounds doesn't really mean anything.
I'm probably just still hyped up after seeing the Celtics really put it together against the Cavs so I'm overrating them a bit, but I think they have a good chance in this series. Former champions with Rondo playing out of his mind (remember a while back when I said he was the best player on the team?) and KG finally playing like he has two knees.....They'll be hard to beat if Allen and Pierce can throw together some good games.
I'm underrating the Magic bench (which is the best in the league) and the best player in the series (Dwight Howard) mainly because I haven't seen them play in a while....and they'll most likely take the series, but man are the Celtics a tempting pick right now.
Ultimately though, I gotta go with the Magic in 6.
