So....using your example.....if it was Michael Doleac..and he won 7 MVP's....is he going to be considered a hero.....uh, fuck no! He'll be considering someone who juiced up like crazy.
and FUCK anyone getting credit and pats on the back for raising money for shit only after they get it. Lance Armstrong raising money for cancer...only because he himself got cancer....isn't heroic...its selfish. Bet he didn't give a damn or a dime towards cancer until he got it.
Same with Christopher Reeve.....he wasn't a damn hero for contributing millions to the quadrapalegic research...he was selfish becuase he only cared when it affected him.

But there has been next to nothing in terms of solid proof that even suggests Lance took drugs. THAT'S the kicker.
Ok, you make a decent point about the cancer, but it still is better than nothing..it's by no means selfish tho..maybe biased, but not selfish.

He didn't support it when it had nothing to do with him.....but now that it'll benefit him.....he decides to spring into action.
The only person he aimed to help...was himself.
Selfish.

a man who makes 7 mvp's is a titan in his sport.
a man who inspires a child with cancer to play catch is a hero.
nuff said.

hard to argue with that..
But LG, regardless, you cant call giving money to any charity selfish, I mean he could be keeping it for himself..

....or, he is trying to show his gratitude to a field of medicine that helped save his life. There will always be at least 2 different perspectives on every topic. I will agree not to try and change yours if you do the same.
Anyone else find it ironic that LG's original post was that Lance has already received all the publicity and public awareness he deserves, but it was that post that sparked this discussion and only facilitated the extending of that awareness (at least in our little micro-society).

I don't consider Lance selfish simply because he himself had cancer and then decided to help the cause. It would be selfish if he used all his money and resources for himself and then after he was cured did nothing, but he continues to donate for cancer research. I think one way to look at it is that he saw first hand how devastating cancer can be and it was an eye opening experience. There's thousands of charities out there and people usually donate to something close to their hearts, and I don't think any of us can deny that this is close to his heart.

i agree b-diddy. and the 629+ million dollars he got others to donate was not chump change either

but better yet is the fact he said he is not ruling out an 8th try, cause it will be the easiest way to get back at the French accusations and piss them off. heh.
He said he is training with the team this winter, and staying in shape regardless...

I've been gone for a very long time so I've missed a lot....but I don't think that Lance doped himself. I believe that he won with hard work.
LG...he is definatley an amazing athlete who shouldn't be underestimated. No one has dominated their sport like he has. He is amazing
