QUOTE(rocketjohn123 @ Nov 28 2006, 11:56 AM) Let Michelle Wie beat those fat chicks on the LPGA a few times before she gets to embarrass herself in a men's event. (Isn't that why they made the LPGA - because the women couldn't compete on the PGA tour?)
seems most of you don't know much about golf. the difference between the LPGA and PGA is not if you have a wee-wee... it's what is par for the course.
she has the arm, but right now, she is sucking and should take up stamp collecting if she is looking for something to excel at that is male dominated.

Its not that women can't compete, its just not as even a game when the women aren't as strong as some of the men. Men thoughts, haha!

Either way, my original thoughts were around her being taken advantage of due to her ASSests...Wasn't really about her playing, I just thought that the big wigs were exploiting her...Now, kinda see that a bit of it is her own doing..

Golf has very little to do with strength past the intial Drive with a full bag of clubs. it's more focus and coordination and the knowledge of self. Drop a drive with a solid arm into a vantage point, pop it another two hundred yards of so, and smooth it out with some wedging and putting. The Drive and "wood-work" is all the arm is needed for, and that is more about grace and timing.
The difference from mens and womens golf has to do with women noticing performance differences based on many factors that only affect women. hint hint. women are more prone to body changes, and every change affects the game. For example, i know a woman who can whoop a course solid, as long as she is having her period. because she is medicated and loosens up, and the stress and tension bleeds away. she feels more comfortable, and slacks her elbows and wrists and doesn't hold the club the same way... and other wise, she is just too tense. And her daughter, my sister, is exactly the opposite way. she can't play unless she is totally tense and goes to the course grinding her teeth. different strokes... same game.
What is messing this girl up is not lack of strength, actually some of her drives show improvement as of late, and it is because she is still in her teens and growing strong. What is messing her up is hormones. She is still growing into a young woman, and it is very different trying to manage control of your swings when your arms feel longer than they did last week when you practiced this same course three times a day.
You feel taller than last month, so you have to angle your back 132 degrees instead of 138 to put the same ball in the same frame of vision. Every growth spurt, you have to adjust every aspect of your game, man or woman, and for a while the game kicks your ass. The only way out of that rut is to find that awareness of your new self.
This intimate knowledge of self is why Golf is such a demanding albeit noncontact sport. A true game of strategy where you are the most important thing to study and develop an intimate knowledge of.

QUOTE(AYHJA @ Nov 20 2006, 03:38 PM) Pete, its true...This is why we have split sports...A woman isn't physically strong enough to compete in most mens sports, what are you talking about..?
I understand why most sporting teams aren't co-gender.
What I don't like is that mens sports are considered more highly competitive, the "better". It's like womens sports aren't as high-quality, plus they are payed less than men even for the same sport (eg. cricket). I think that's discrimination.
That is what I am talking about.

That is true is just about all facets of most modern westernized civilizations, not just sports.

Want to know why the women get payed less.....idiot?
Lets look at basketball.....where the women's league only has what....13 teams?....meaning their season is only like 2-3 months long...and how many times have you seen a WNBA sell out?
The reason the men make the big bucks...is because they bring in the fans.... NBA makes probably 400 times the profit the WNBA does......being why the men are paid more...
I bet you're the type who is completely and utterly shocked and appauled that athletes get paid more than teachers too....
