copper. is that not "gold-coloured" like I said? (me: concepts, not facts)
interesting idea about the safe. no "technology" needed indeed. just the right environment to get something on high-voltage.

the safe idea is a good place to start. who would put stone tablet fragments in a battery.

QUOTE(raum)So, when you ask me where the Ark is, I simply must point to the world and beyond to everypoint that glitters or fades in all space and time, and say, that too shall pass. I point at my chest, to some indeterminable speck of nothing-ness that is so infinitely bright that it would sear the eyes from the sockets of any rational man, even beyond the atoms of the blood that fuels my body... and that is where the True Ark is, within.,.. the infinite core of Humanity.
I care not for the trappings of Gopher-wood, acacia, even the gold gilt edges,.. I would melt them down to feed the howling children of the world. For I have long understood what Jeshua said unto the masses: "Atoh Melekiel Wateshbukta"
"The Kingdom of God resides within you."

Perhaps the best post in this entire thread. It was definitely an interesting read. It has me a little curious... And I agree, the idea of a safe is the most plausible I think.
When reading the description AYHJA posted, I couldn't get a picture in my head to save my life. Do you know if they have some sort of idea what it looks like, raum?

That is a good picture, and slightly different than the one that I had in my mind...but I believe that it is close...
I don't remember the exact contents of the Ark...But I do know that the Ten Commandments were there...I'm not sure if I've brought this up or not earlier, but there has been a bit of a debate on what exactly the tablets were made out of...I have never given it much though before I got interested in the Ark, I always assumed stone....
But there were some reports that it was a clearish type substance...Furthermore, it goes on to say that when Moses came down from the mountain, his face 'shone' and that the people were afraid of him...He had to then rock a veil to calm them down...And while I think the bible says that literally, he was shining from having been in the wake of God, it could also be that he was mingling with a radioactive substance...
We know that th Ark had some power that was feared by all...They would leave the Ark out and it would lay waste to enemies...I even think that the Ark was stolen, and once they found out what it was, they bough it back...
Also, we know that the Ark was kept in Solomon's Temple, and was only allowed to be visited once a year by the high priest...To do this, the room had to be filled with smoke...From incense if I am not mistaken...Again, the guise is that the Ark was too holy to look at, but could it have also been to remove any charges...?

What are the contents of the Ark of the Covenant? We don't know. It's been missing for nearly three thousand years. All we know about the Ark and its contents is what the Bible says about it and the last book of the Bible was written nearly two thousand years ago. For all we know the Ark is empty today.
So what were the contents of the Ark of the Covenant according to the Bible? In Hebrews 9:1-5 we read, "Now the first covenant had regulations for worship and also an earthly sanctuary. A tabernacle was set up. In its first room were the lampstand, the table and the consecrated bread; this was called the Holy Place. Behind the second curtain was a room called the Most Holy Place, which had the golden altar of incense and the gold-covered ark of the covenant. This ark contained the gold jar of manna, Aaron's staff that had budded, and the stone tablets of the covenant. Above the ark were the cherubim of the Glory, overshadowing the atonement cover. But we cannot discuss these things in detail now."
The writer of Hebrews couldn't discuss the details because by the time the book of Hebrews was written the Ark had already been missing for six centuries. The writer does however mention what the Ark's contents were at one time and he seems to be making reference to certain passages of the Old Testament. In Exodus 16:33-34, 25:10-16 and Numbers 17:10 God tells Moses to put the gold jar of manna, Aaron's staff that had budded, and the stone tablets of the covenant into the Ark. However in 1 Kings 8:9, when Solomon brought the Ark into the Temple which he had built, it only contained the stone tablets. The other contents, the rod and the jar of manna, must have been removed at some point before the Ark was brought into the temple. And that is all the Bible says about the contents of the Ark of the Covenant.
