I only wish he would've taken a more direct approach...and go after the leader. If the teacher was at his reach, he should have returned fire...paper, notebook...whatever. Level the playing field.
Whining is useless, putting the teacher out of an already shitty job is unnecessary...UNLESS, the situation which the teacher helped develop, had taken a more "real-life" approach. I'm not sure WHAT valuable lesson he was hoping to impart...but having a student HE teased, go after him, would've certainly shown the whole class a richer and lasting impression, rather than this boring-ass ending.

I'm not justifying anything, I was merely pointing out that if these same events (or worse, as in my example) occured between peers, it would have been understandable.

I'm not saying that the kid's case has any merit, either. I'm saying you can't simply ignore the fact that teachers have a responsibility to carry themselves in a particular fashion that is not necessarily expected of students, and this teacher failed to do that.

I'm sorry if your art teacher acted equally as stupid, but that has no bearing on this incident.

Actually, I do, and I've had on occasion something not unlike this occur.

One of my daughters was a big time junior hockey fan while in high school. She loved those pale 17-year-old Canadian kids who haden't yet lost all their teeth.

Anyway, I moved her from our native home (Portland, Oregon) to the Seattle area. Since Seattle has junior hockey team in the same league, and the two teams are often bitter rivals, she took a lot of flak from schoolmates whenever she wore her WinterHawks gear, which was pretty often. I told her to deal with it, or become a T-Birds fan. She dealt.

Never did any of her teachers single her out or play any pranks on her for her support of Portland's junior hockey team. If they had, I would have made an appointment to discuss the incident with the instructor involved, and if I believed that a faculty member had screwed up, I would have demanded an apology from that person to my daughter, preferably in the presence of the same group which witnessed the incident in question.

per three different interviews the Teacher had warned the kids not to wear other team Jerseys in his classroom. And in one of the , the kid ups the ante, and includes a physical element to his humiliation.

ike, your girl wearning her jersey with pride is one thing (and an admirable one loyal to her team), this kid was "actually" a dolphins fan, who just decided to show props for the Broncs because he is such an Elway fan. he's an attention whore, who was properly warned, and got punked.

k, ike,.. what is the difference between this kid and the kid who went to the formal dance function in a kilt, which is the formal dress of his cultural heritage, and the source of much ridicule regardless of who's playing that weekend?
