Zithers, though, are usually more portable than xylophones.

Certain sorts of xylophone are small enough to rest on one's lap, but generally xylophones are much larger than zithers, and full-size ones have integral legs with casters, making them awkward to transport.

Does that then mean you prefer zithers to xylophones due to the relative ease of transporting zithers?

Each instrument, whether zither or xylophone or some other, has its own qualities and its own appeal; but I prefer zithers because they are (in my opinion) somewhat more musically versatile than xylophones, and they don't require mallets to play.
