I am not ganging up against you Brains... my point is simply shared by other people, who tend to be more abrasive in their words with you.
I am not that abrasive unless I know you, and can actually make it sting. and then, not even my brother is safe. /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
---------------
but coming up with a idea like iraq was more stable with Saddam in power is far from true.
that is socratic logic, and hardly a good way to resolve your sentiment in foreign policy.
and to be honest, it sounds like you are doing this with full intention that it will be the catalyst to a heated confrontation...
are you not even going to approach the subject of iran capturing a romanian oil rig that was trying to leave their waters because Iran wasn't paying them? Is not oil piracy worthy of something other than incentive packages?
You consolidated Saddam's history into a singular period, though he expressed completely different sentiments between the point he was instrumental in combatting illiteracy, and the point where he, basically, lost his frigkin mind.
-----------
If you speak of tyranny as more stable than a budding liberty facing an zealous insurgency that was empowered by the disposed tyranny, you are not anywhere near speaking from the heart of man that is the ear into which God whispers.
Freedom is a reward, for an effort of sacrifice.

I get Brain... I don't hate Brain... it is fun for me to talk to him because we have vastly different views on the same subject. Thats what makes life worth living... seeing someone elses side and discussing it. I just have a dirty mouth is all. Keep up the posts Brain... I've got ya back.. from the WAY back.

ah. good. "hate is a very strong feeling you should hold to none" (I learned that from a South-Central LA rapper who was visiting my home town of Antwerp. The fucker tried hitting on my girlfriend. Yet these words, I have always remembered and I thank him for that. they are correct). so i don't hate. i refuse even to use the word. an exception might be "damn. I hate that shit.", but even that, it's been ages I used it afaik. so. i do like that ruff. respect.
raum. yes. i consolidated. and yes - like I stated several times - Saddam became a vile dictator. yet, the country WAS a lot more stable than it is now and its education system was well-developed. hell, Saddam even won a Unesco education prize in 1982 for eradicating illiteracy!
do I believe Iraq will stabilize in the end? yes I do! but we (the West or rather the "mini-coalition") used the very wrong means to get there. how many lives were lost? how much more will be? this could have been done peacefully - way more peacefully than it was done now.
I do not "hate" or even dislike Bush. The guy is an individual I can learn from, like I can from all. I dislike the Bush administration. they are far too extreme in their approach and far to blind to the latter's consequences.

my own access to secure documents and government agencies lets me know that if you think the whole picture is out there, you are SADLY mistaken.
that is why you will see most vets who had actual clearance are very cautious to presume the media eye of sauron is giving the real scoop.
if you think you know half of what almost happened with Al Qaeda in 1996, you are delusional, or a vet.

My clearence is active and has no limitations. My knowledge is the same when I want it to be. What goes on and what is protrayed through the media is VERY different. Sometimes, it is damn near 180 degrees different. You hear every single day about someone getting killed... ever heard about a coalition task force bringing food and supplies to starving famalies in remote villages? Nope.

Shakespeare also said:
And thus I clothe my naked villainy
With old odd ends, stol'n forth of holy writ;
And seem a saint, when most I play the devil.
Beware of the wolf in sheeps clothing Brain.
