He and Peter are like two sides of the same coin....
one steals powers for evil...
the other only taps in to them for good...

In fact, I was surprised that they didn't have Peter use any of Silar's accumulated powers against him in the "homecoming" episode... they were in close proximity, after all....and he did tap in to the cheerleader's powers.... Maybe that is for a future conflict...

...and is it just me, or does anyone else here think that the radioactive man IS the bomb that goes off in NY...??? that, or it could be Silar after he has stolen radio-active man's powers...??? just a thought...

****SPOILER WARNING*****
stop here if you have not yet watched last night's episode

Regarding last night's episode - walk through this with me....
Waitress has super memory, right? So why didn't she remember or recognize Hiro when she "met him" on the day that she died? If you say that it's because he hadn't gone back in time yet, than answer me this.... if he hadn't gone back in time, than who gave her the Japanese phrase book that we saw him present her with and that she previously referenced in the episode where she was introduced ? Was that just a coincidence? Was she destined to have that book? If you subscribe to the deestiny theory, it does fit nicely with Hiro's conclusion that he couldn't save her...there was nothing he could do to change the past. However, if that is true, than why did "future Hiro" go back to Peter on the train and tell him to save the cheerleader? Clearly he was changing the past....risking a "rift" ... so what gives? Plot hole? I think so....
...but mostly I'm just pissed that they killed the waitress... I liked her and thought she fit nicely with Hiro's character...

QUOTE(Mr. SM @ Nov 28 2006, 12:19 PM) He and Peter are like two sides of the same coin....
one steals powers for evil...
the other only taps in to them for good...

It Goes beyond that...

(NOTE: I suspected this was all speculation, but RIGHT NOW after reading of an interview shows Tom Kring is more up my alley, with a collegiate background in Religious Studies... i know this show is VERTICAL)

Peter only has their power when he communes with them. He is a hospice nurse, with the gift of bestowing comfort to the dying. His power empathy is an extension of his genuine compassion. His name is Greek and means "Stop, Exhaust" and is an indication of the firmness and resolve of a stone.

Sylar is a watchmaker, and the son of a watchmaker. Know your Sci-Fi. He has the gift of crafting for people the mechanism of time, and in the end of that term, he takes them into himself and their power becomes his own. His name is from the Samothracian "Silos" and means "to dig out, to excavate" - The divot.

thus, Sylar is a void from which Peter is "dug out"... and in this flux and flow of life and time,.. we have Hiro measuring the Balances.

This is the reason in the Lore of the Angels, that for a period of time, the angel Gabriel (Sylar's real name that he conceals) was seen as evil, for he abused the role of Angel of Death, until the angel Petriel (Peter's last name Patrelli, the legacy of his father) disposed him. Upon his redemption from that state, he was given the task of emissary of the announcement of the birth of the Son of God, who was laid to rest in a cave (Silos), and was sealed within by a stone (Petros). These two represent the forces of evolution.

The force they contain is embodied as Hiro (Bounty, Generous, Gift, precious Offering), who tries to save everyone but is powerless to do so unless they save themselves. he holds the key to hell and death, but none but him can see it. Hiro will save Micah, short for Michiah, and means "He who is the image of YHVH."

Wait and see how Thoth (Hiro) saves Horus (Micah) by concealing him from his two mothers Isis and Nepthys. this will force the reconciliation of these two, as Nichole (which means "with the Light"), and Jessica (from the Hebrew "Yah sikah", and means "God Sees (All)"), and from the two will emerge her power, which is NOT yet revealed.

and let's not go into poor old blind isaac the prophet...

The cheerleader Claire Bennet was the preservation of the Clara Benet', which is old French for "The Light of the Simple Minded" (i.e. The Virtue of the Fool), which is INNOCENCE OF YOUTH. It is why she suffered the knowledge of Death when she was first exposed to the sexual urge. But we know this is not her real name...

anyways,.. I have broken this whole show down by the names, and other (to me) obvious signs. My girlfriend hates watching it with me. heh

NEXT POINT
In fact, I was surprised that they didn't have Peter use any of Silar's accumulated powers against him in the "homecoming" episode... they were in close proximity, after all....and he did tap in to the cheerleader's powers.... Maybe that is for a future conflict...

Not that simple. If Peter could access Sylar's powers, Sylar could not emerge the symbol of forced evolution.

------

...and is it just me, or does anyone else here think that the radioactive man IS the bomb that goes off in NY...??? that, or it could be Silar after he has stolen radio-active man's powers...??? just a thought...

Hiro prevented that by leaning the scales to peter. And he paid the price by losing the one person he personally tried to save for selfish reasons.
