CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP)—Former NFL player David Meggett was sentenced to 30 years in prison Wednesday after his conviction in a South Carolina court on charges of criminal sexual conduct and burglary, authorities said.

Meggett was convicted in a case involving an encounter with a college student at her house in North Charleston in January 2009, according to authorities.

Meggett, who attended high school in North Charleston, was a running back and punt returner in the National Football League between 1989 and 1998. Meggett played six years with the New York Giants, three with the New England Patriots and one with the New York Jets. He had nearly 1,700 yards rushing and just over 3,000 receiving during his career.

Meggett, 42, did not take the stand in his own defense at trial and his lawyer said he will appeal. His conviction and sentencing were reported Wednesday in several South Carolina media outlets.

This excerpt of the early game's action is for Uber, my man:
Chad Pennington hurt himself on Miami's opening possession and his replacement,
Chad Henne, suffered a knee injury in the second half. The Dolphins were Wildcat-heavy after those two
checked out, but eventually they handed the keys to Tyler Thigpen, legend of 2008. Thigpen guided
Miami to a win, going 4-for-6 and connecting with tight end Anthony Fasano on a late TD. The 'Fins face
Chicago on Thursday night, so there's a decent chance we'll get another serving of Thiggy this week.
Thigpen for second-half MVP?

Updated notes:
The injuries to Chad Pennington (shoulder) and Chad Henne (knee) are reportedly both season-enders,
so Tyler Thigpen will get the Week 11 start against the Bears. It's clearly not the most favorable
match-up, and he won't have Chan Gailey holding his hand. (Gailey was his OC back in '08, when the Chiefs went to a Thigpen-friendly spread). But c'mon, admit that you're more than a little interested in seeing Thiggy at the controls of the 'Fins offense on Thursday.
I indeed am. As much as I respect Chan Gailey's offensive play-calling (and he has transformed the former Harvard QB in Bills' QB Ryan Fitzpatrick into a top-5 fantasy option over the past 6 weeks) , I am anxiously awaiting to see if good ol' Tyler Thigpen brings any semblance of offensive spark of life into the Miami Dolphins. Tony Sparano has to know that Dan Carpenter can't win him a game every week on his own, you know?

Did you guys see the proposed new uniforms from Nike for the NFL in 2012. I hate about 90% of them especially New England's which is gayer than the gayest gay on gay day. The Raiders and Panthers look pretty snazzy though. Was saying snazzy gay?

I like the Panthers, Browns (although not much change), Jets, Redskins, Saints, Vikings, Eagles, Jags, Bengals, Cheifs, Bills, Cardinals

Hate the Steelers, Pats , Bears, SF

I liked more than I hated, but don't think that any of them are necessary enough to actually change.

No it was just floating around from one site to another so not sure where it all originated but I grabbed it from a forum like us and brought it over. The official word now is they are all faked but the general belief is they are not fake and Nike leaked the pics to gather public reaction so they could deny like they are if the reaction was bad which for the most part it is.

The official contract sponsors for the past decade or so have been Riddell (helmets, pads) and Reebok (uniforms, cleats).

I don't see Nike coming into the negotiations at all, even as this last CBA comes to an end.
I know the above may only be 'propositions' and 'test apparel', but I don't see them coming anywhere near to being adorned by Peyton Manning or Joe Flacco.
I'm old-fashioned in sticking with what you have (and what's familiar).
