After using it for 2 weeks I went back to XP Pro. There is too much crap that needs to be perfected for Vista to be a primary OS. I'd wait until at least SP1 before considering it again.

That .. and the pricing is friggen ridiculous. $300-$400 for an OS???? /ohmy.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":o" border="0" alt="ohmy.gif" />
But I have found hope .. you can buy the upgrade version .. boot it and clean install it without putting in a key giving you the 30 day trial .. then do an upgrade on it and then putting in your upgrade key.
Essentially a clean install with an upgrade disk .. and micro$oft said they won't shut that down too .. so that's like half off .. $250 for the Ultimate baby!!!
sad thing is .. I'm actually gonna have to PAY for it .. :'( ... arrrrg.

I agree. It simply isn't suitable as a primary OS.
Game performance is lacking, 3D rendering is significantly slower, video converting is slower, setting up custom resolutions and refresh rates is painful and video overclocking is seriously lacking.
The only good thing I'll say for it is it stealths all ports straight out of the box

What were your specific issues w/it..? What are your system specs again..?

my sig has my specs .. /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
it's not like I couldn't install it .. get it running and stuff .. but there were apps that just wouldn't work .. my antivirus and firewall wasn't supported (is now though)
when I tried it the drivers were real buggy .. and I just plain didn't like the interface.
The sidebar uses way too much memory .. and the damn UAC (user account control) just pisses me off to no end. They tried to emulate the way linux security is implemented and in my eyes failed miserably.
the gig of ram minimum is no joke .. you really do need a gig to run stuff even moderately good.
and like I said .. the price just makes me cringe .. I don't make nearly enough to spend that much on a full disk ($400) .. the upgrade I could probably do .. but then I'd have to actually ... *gulp* .. buy it.
edit: forgot to mention .. you need 13 GB of hard drive space for the install ... 13!!!!!! a lil much don't you think?
