But its unfair to Reddick to doubt his talent just because he comes from Duke... you know that.

How many NBA ballers period come from Virgina Union? Didn't stop Ben Wallace from being a monster.....

it's all about how much work you put in...and what sort of system you get in.... that really determines how far you will go and how good you will be

Reddick isn't the best and most complete player of his age......but like I'm saying man.....if you can name and argue with me over a person who is more complete...who is PLAYING in college basketball right now....I'll gladly listen

Giving me Bron and people who aren't playing in the NBA is irrelevant to the point....I'm saying J.J. Reddick is the nicest most complete player in college basketball..... you haven't given me a name yet who has that beat....all you're doing is doubting that based on history or other players of his age or people who came before him.... I never said he's the nicest to ever come out....nor is he the best of his age...nor will he be great in the NBA...... but you've yet to dispute my original point...which has never changed...

Come on ...I know the script aint flippin' ... you looking pretty "LG" right now lol...

Anything to back up your statement.....you just posted a link, so I'll assume you're saying that his numbers alone speak for themselves as to why he's the best.....while they are comparable....I wonder how he'd do against ACC compeition.....and he still is averaging 3 less points a game....

Nice thought....and I'll admit very comparable.....but I dont think he's on J.J.'s level.

Dem suits...I told you, they don't fit you...

QUOTE(Lost Ghost)But its unfair to Reddick to doubt his talent just because he comes from Duke... you know that.

I only said that, cause you used it as a defense to his statistics...Trajan Langdon got it on @ Duke JUST like JJ...Had the same knock on him that JJ does...Duke has some of the most over hyped talent in the world, which is really a testament to Coach K...

no..we havent.....He plays against subpar compeition

QUOTE(Lost Ghost)How many NBA ballers period come from Virgina Union? Didn't stop Ben Wallace from being a monster.....

And what you just said there, retracts on even your previous statment about why Adam Morrison isn't the best...And even your first statement, about how I can't doubt Reddick about where he plays...According to your varying logic, I can find a dude in D-AA lighting it up, and say he is better than JJ...

QUOTE(Lost Ghost)Reddick isn't the best and most complete player of his age......but like I'm saying man.....if you can name and argue with me over a person who is more complete...who is PLAYING in college basketball right now....I'll gladly listen

The point of me saying that, was because if Reddick was as nice as he appears, he'd already be in the league...He stayed in school to improve, and that was a good move...In my eyes, the best players are skipping college, or leaving early...Not your point, but mine...I find it impossible to get too excited by college guys that can score...I saw Harold Minor play, and he was much, much more prolific than JJ...I'm not arguing or debating your stance, I am building my own foundation...

QUOTE(Lost Ghost)I'm saying J.J. Reddick is the nicest most complete player in college basketball.....

And how have you proven this..? He can score, yes, I already knew that...But define complete player, and then tell me JJ is in that class...How is it that you are asking me to define my stance, when you have not defined yours theoretically or statistically..? I can pull the stats of a 2 guard and they be more well rounded, and based on what you've given me, you would have to recant...

Furthermore...

I already said that I haven't really been watching enough to challenge, http://www.ayhja.com/af/viewtopic.php?p=104994#104994, that was my first post in the thread...Not sure what you're trying to get out of me...

QUOTE(Lost Ghost)but you've yet to dispute my original point...which has never changed...

I already did...JJ is by no means a "complete" player, its not up to me to dispute a point which was said, but never really made...What did you offer up in terms of support of it..? Everything you cited in your original post was right, but offensive based...You got return fire on that assumption, and it did not work out...Sooo...We can lock this thread and try again if you want...

QUOTE(Lost Ghost)Come on ...I know the script aint flippin' ... you looking pretty "LG" right now lol...

There, there, no need to insult me... /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

Dont know what that stands for....so the point was lost?

The Ben Wallace comment refers to you can't judge the history of schools to tell wether or not a player will be good. All players out of UNC aren't MJ.....and not everyone who is comparable to previous Duke players will end up like them.

I dont understand how you can dispute any point on the completeness of a player when you admit to not watching any college basketball as of yet.

In fact...the thread is about the best player in college basketball....and that is J.J. Redick....I may have overstepped my boundaries based on my own excitement with the statement that hes the most complete...but he's by far the best this season...and will win player of the year.

Mann.....don't tell me there isnt any talent in college cause all the good ones go to the NBA early....AI, Duncan, Shaq, Wade...just as many who are great came out of college my man....

Bron is a phenomian.....how are a majority of the other highschoolers from the past two years doing? They've become projects...and if you want to consider J.J. Redick a project because you feel he isn't tall enough to play a 2....I'll take his ability as a project over pretty much any highschooler who has come out in the past ocuple years...besides Lebron and the likes.....

and in all reality....you got it backwards.....If there's only one name on the ballot...no reason or convincing is needed..... until you can come up with a current college player who is better than J.J. Redick right now.....why is it on me to convince you he's good?........ I know you're not in a position to really debate numbers and other players because you havent watched much c-ball this year....but giving me the history of duke and other college basketball players has nothing to do with wether or not J.J. Redick is better than other college ballers in today's games...

You know this..(switching sports really has no bearing on the principle illistrated in this example)..If I came out and said "Walter Payton is the best player EVER".....you'd be quick on finding your Jim Brown stats and telling me different......you wouldnt be singing no "what about before Walter Payton...bear's running back's aint shit in the past" or..."man i seen dudes just like walter payton...and they no good now!" in order to dethrone my statement....you must come up with a better example.....not wait for me to demonstrate why he's best.

and in a game where theres not too many statisical categories that really define defense...its hard to tell if he's a great defender or not...offensive stats rule....who's the best has now become...whos scoring the most.....or...who's the best player on the best team? which J.J. Redick is number 2 in one...and is the other instance.

Dude, I have no idea what you are debating...You make stuff up in posts...Freeze things up in anonimity, and then use those same things to try to establish something...Change, or don't clearly define stances and views...And then, you pile more and more stuff on, claiming to not have been addressed...What am I addressing..?

What you are trying to debate, I already answered...

I dont understand how you can dispute any point on the completeness of a player when you admit to not watching any college basketball as of yet.

It is commonly referred to as a "highlight"....And the only way you can hate on that, is if you have seen every single minute of every single game JJ has played...If not..? Your perspective is about on par with mine...I can look at stats in conjunction with my morning sports center, and talk shit like I know what is up...I elected not to do that...I was pretty much uninformed, and stated that very clearly...All of my other posts were to build up my own opinion, I wasn't even disputing anything you said about JJ, other than that he is not what I would call a complete player...that is all...

That said, will you please tell me what the other stuff in your post is about..?

why is it on me to convince you he's good?

Now, what part of:

QUOTE(AYHJA)I would say tho, he's the nicest, most attractive player...That fucking trigger he has is lethal as all hell...

Makes you figure that I don't think the kid is good..?

Now, the name of this topic is "Best Player in College Basketball," right..?

Yet, your first words are, "So...who's going number 1?"

More confusion...You are arguing that now, but...4 pages in...In the beginning...What were you talking about..? Right, the draft...So, you didn't even establish this shit you keep chunkin' in my grill, like i can't read, or forget what I read:

If there's only one name on the ballot...no reason or convincing is needed..... until you can come up with a current college player who is better than J.J. Redick right now.....

Had you said that from the get go...AYHJA would have been mum...AYHJA was mum, until you kept harping...If you followed the convos a bit better, this would come easier me thinks...

I may have overstepped my boundaries based on my own excitement with the statement that hes the most complete...

That's all I said from the get go...And here we are 4 pages later before you admit that...FOUR pages...

JJ is a great college player. Most complete - I dunno. We can argue till the cows come home. He's got Trajan Langdon written all over him. Or Steve Kerr.

Steve Kerr....the man with all the rings on his fingers?

Man....I wouldn't be upset at all if Steve Kerr was writen on me..

Steve Kerr

50th Player taken in the 1988 NBA Draft...Height: 6'3" (Probably closer to 6'2) Weight: 185...

Lethal shooter....His .454 Career 3pt mark is tops in league History...Career NBA High in a game...24 points....

Shot 57.3% from behind the arc as Sr at Arizona...To date, Reddick is a .423 3pt shooter...

Redick would be lucky to even be mentioned in the same breath as Steve Kerr, and I'm not even sure if that's a complement or a put down...

Oh...And LG...I got 2 words for you...

"Salim Stoudamire"

And, I got some more definite reasons to pick JJ #1 in the draft this year:

  • 2005 NCAA Tournament loss (Mich. St.), JJ was 4-14 from the field
  • 2004 NCAA Tournament loss (UConn), JJ was 4-12 from the field
  • 2003 NCAA Tournament loss (Kansas), JJ was 2-16 from the field
    • That sweet shot is 10-42 in big games...

Or....that just shows how vital he is to his team....if he's having an off-night...they lose the game.

The fact that he's even taking 16 shots in a tourney game as a freshman goes to some credit as to how he's been a consistently good talent from the beginning.

Salim Stoudamire was more touted for his quick release and his 3-point accuracy....

J.J. is celebrated becasue of his all around shooting ability...is averagin the second most points per game..and is on the number 2 (should be number 1) ranked team who is looking to make a good run towards the national championship.

He's a great prospect, theres no doubting that. Where he will go from there is based on personal opinion...people seeing what they like....or picking out things they dont like and how they value each trait.... to me, being able to stroke the ball with consistency (49.8% from the field) can't be taught.

And I'll be honest.....I like him more cause he's white!!!! I also like him because whereever he goes fans are always chanting "J.J. SUCKS" and shit.....he's the most hated player in college basketball...and to fight through that and show no retalition or for it to have relatively no effect on his game to me is an admirable thing.

I'm probably baised.....but I'm a Redick fan....
