pretty much the first foe of the Hulk's who was stronger than him in the character's early days. went nuts in more recent times & killed Banner's wife Betty by poisoning her with his gamma-iradiated blood in a frame job with after a constant string of physical defeats by the greenskin goliath. more: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abomination_%28comics%29

A spy at a Toy Fair in Germany got to see some new footage from both Iron Man & Incredible Hulk. here's the rundown on the Incredible Hulk footage:
source: AICN
It was great to see the first footage of the INCREDIBLE HULK. I think the
Ang Lee movie was terrible, but I have a lot of faith in this one. What we
saw looked like the first official trailer. The scene opens with Edward
Norton meditating. We see images of a lab, experiments, Banner escaping from
the (Russian?) military (led by William Hurt and Tim Roth), running in the
streets, kissing Liv Tyler, guns, shooting, more running… The ‘trailer’ ends
with Abomination walking towards Hulk. Remember the end of Rocky III? Apollo
Creed wants to hit Rocky in their friendly duel? That’s exactly the way the
trailer ends. Abomination wants to hit Hulk. Hulk wants to hit Abomination,
but before it actually happens the trailer is over. Abomination looks like a
Hulk with the Voldemort face from the first Harry Potter movie. A really
mean motha. He sure is a great opponent.
I thought the shown footage was awesome. It promises much more action than
the Ang Lee movie, a great love story and an even greater fight. Edward
Norton makes a great Bruce Banner. He isn’t that muscular which makes his
transformation into Hulk much more interesting and exciting. Imagine John
Cena as Bruce Banner! That would be completely wrong, wouldn’t it?

raum, you need to run that script to Hollywood, lol...

And thanks for the Cliff notes, Jig...All in all, this seems like it will be a good movie, and even better than the first...I wonder who is doing the score, the score for the first hulk was done by Elfman, and he's the damn dude...

What I was essentially saying is the hulk is not a complex enough character (in the comic) to really hold a whole movie together himself. It is why, historically, the Hulk as a crossover or cameo in other titles sold MUCH better than his own story.

However, the old series was a GREAT series. But it wasn't the Hulk from the comic. It showed the Tragedy of a man unable to escape the past, and yet who was a sort of Angel of Circumstance often Hulking out just when the bad guys needed to get whooped.

That was PERFECT for TV, but would never fly in a movie.

But if Ed Norton is playing David Bruce Banner, they are guaranteed success before they begin. He is visually interesting to males and females (not for the same reason, but girls like to look at him, while guys see the CRAZY in that dude immediately), and a GREAT actor.

Regarding Mary Jane,.. Evan Rachel Wood is said to be casted for the musical Spider-Man.

But Betsy Ross was a bit character,.. never of any consequence except as a string to pull the Hulk by. She was constantly being recycled in the comic, and everytime it was explained away as a hallucination or a vile scheme to make him think she was still alive. The Ultimate Betsy is cold and doesn't even like Banner until he kills hundreds of people as the hulk when he is looking for her.

Connely made the best attempt at the role, in any medium.

But I rather think of Betsy as a psychological indicator of Bruce's. He "invented" her as he sees her as a tether to humanity, and clings to her, and has built her up so larger than life that she is more his imaginary PERFECT girlfriend because he needs her to be, instead of the selfish and opportunistic women she really is. He invents the tragedy of her because it humanizes himself when he needs it most.

Surr Jig-

That was an awesome little clip! But it demonstrates exactly what the Hulk should be... An angry child that can be reasoned with IF you don't make him mad beyond his own control.

I personally think that is something that will only ever be accomplished by putting him on the screen with other heroes, and in particular The Avengers. Because, to me, that is his greatest moment.

"Spider-Man tell Hulk help puny Iron Man,.. so,.. HULK HELP *grimace*!!!"

"puppy,..?"

perfect. Is this a series?

WOW! Very awesome! I wonder if that's the stand in for the actors to know where to put there eyes for the CGI to be added later.
