Re: Iron Man 2
I went to see it yesterday...
Hmmm...I think I liked it...I mean, even though I know that Tony Stark is pretty much an asshole in the comics, I didn't want to see that totally come across in the movie...But, I think that it did, behind those dialogs man, I was kinda miffed...I thought that the antagonist was even more of an asshole in the movie with already one asshole too many in it...I really think that they don't leave it all on the floor with a successful franchise, to me, what happened in the end of this one should have been what happened in the middle, and then we build up to the next one...
In the first one, Iron Man was just getting used to the suit...And by this one, we're supposed to assume that he's become an expert..? The congressional hearing scene was just...I didn't know why they left it in the movie...We should have been seeing Iron Man kicking ass in between part 1 and 2, or something...Especially if we're supposed to also assume that Rhodes is a season suit pilot, and a man of the military, who got beaten by a drunken civilian...
The special effects were awesome, the movie looked beautiful, and the Iron Man suit is a thing of legend...Even if I discard how much I liked the first one, I think that this one could have been better, and can see why on some movie sites they aren't giving it the best of reviews...When you have all the tools at yoru disposal to make a kick ass movie, that's what you're supposed to do...I know it could have been politics that shaved it clean, but still...C'mon man..!
BTW, ScarJo..? Crazy, crazy, crazy...Loved her character...

Re: Iron Man 2
I'm kinda thinkin that the Stark in the movies resembles more of what Peter Parker should be like with the quips and such but it also differntiates him from being another Bruce Wayne clone which I think most critics would compare him to if he were more like his comic version. I really didn't get an asshole vibe from him like you did Ube but I thought the dying part was kinda rushed and didn't seem to fit in with the movie, think it shoulda alluded more to his fame and drinking problems than anything. Instead it looks like he was only drinking because he was dying and then when he's not well he doesn't need the bottle anymore. I love How Junior portrays him though but yeah it was a little silly when Rhoady just figured out how to use the armor in a mattter of seconds...but this is movietime so...(kinda like Luke going to Dagobah for a week to become a Jedi then going off to fight the baddest dude in the Universe) Kinda alot of stuff they tried to fit into a two hour movie but I still really dug it. Not as much as the first one but I still really liked it. And I liked how they kept mentioning the problem in the SouthWest region of the country. Thought it was Hulk they were alluding to but maybe something else. Did you stay for the special endings after the credits?

Re: Iron Man 2
I think the only real issue I have with the movie was the pacing/editing. Stark always shown an asshole side from the first movie onwards. It was just brought to the forefront due to the odds he was facing. Thinking you are dying will do that to ya. Darkie,What double ending?!? The only stinger I saw both times I watched it was the allusion to Mjolnir's owner...Unless you are talking about the busted up shield when Tony was rebuilding his lab? The timeline for the sequel is 6 Months Later. And as Ja pointed out, Rhodey is an experienced pilot. Who says Tony didn't let homeboy take the armor out for a spin in that interim period?. Speaking of chronology, Incredible Hulk obviously is set after the events of IM2 as Stark in his cameo at the end is already totally pro-Avenger Initiative. Did anyone else notice the Hulk footage playing at S.H.I.E.L.D. hq? And the maps of Wakanda (A clear nod to the Black Panther) ?. As I recently read, almost an hour was shaved off the theatrical version we saw. Hopefully we'll get a director's cut of both IM flicks one day.

Re: Iron Man 2
I think everyone missed it. I've been looking all over the net and no one is talking about the second ending except for the Mjinor. If you sit for another two or three minutes the flick kicks back on with Black Widow approaching a certain brownstone looking building in Manhattan she goes into a lab in back and there is this big chuck of ice with a bunch of cathodes and monitors and shit attached to it and one of the scientists yells out "we're losing him!" And she calls...well someone else but it ain't Fury but he is a Doctor. I can't believe no one saw this besides me and the other people in the theater. I stayed for another ten minutes after waiting to see if there was anything else but then the moviejockey told me to bounce.Sir Jig-A-Lot wrote:Darkie,What double ending?!?
