The Electra complex is for women. The Oedipus complex is for men.

I do think it is a mental thing though. Not attracted to my mother by any means but I only prefer brunettes. I'm not attracted to blondes at all, except for ones with very short straight hair (ie Ash Hollywood, Alexis Texas). Not sure where that comes from but brunettes have always been my cup of tea. I tried a blonde once and found it difficult to want to be around her.

But women who did lack a father figure in their lives generally tend to go for men with gray hair. They might sleep with a lot of men but find themselves wanting to be with older men.

It's psychology, something I don't pretend to completely understand but will leave it to the general experts and agree with their vast experience.

Girls who grow up around abusive, controlling fathers tend to lean that way with men when they become women. Girls who grow up around caring and devoted fathers tend to lean that way with men when they become women. It's a paternal imprint. That's why girls without ANY father (aka "Daddy issues") tend to sleep around a lot and end up wanting to be with an older man. They never had any male attention nor that father to make them feel good about themselves.

Another part of the Electra complex is true, regarding how girls are closer to their mothers when they are younger but as they reach puberty and sexual maturity they become closer to their fathers. They tend to dislike their mothers at that point. They seek that smile of approval from their father. I have seen this countless times with women I have been with.
