Regardless of Mike Tyson's fall and how his fall happened. He still is one of the best fighters that was. No knocking Ali. Ali was a truly great fighter. There have been and still is some great fighters but you have to put Mike Tyson up on that list regardless of his fall and the crap that happened.

With regards to the Ali fights on ESPN Classic. You do have a point man, he most always punched for the head. That would make any man tired making sure his head was always covered knowing your openent is shooting for it with every punch.

thanks

QUOTE(theseeker)Mike, Mike, Mike......   IMT would be school'd by Ali at lunch time, by the flag poll.....  Hell, you say what you want to Mike beat Lenox Lewis the first time they fought.  Dread head push'd him down after the L jab he landed.  Mike will go down in history as one of the craziest mf's in boxing history.  What he did for boxing at the highlight of his career MJ did for the NBA.  MT didn't fuck up boxing Don King did.....

What..??!!?!?

Homez, they only fought once, and that was in Memphis...I was THERE fight night weekend, the event was huge...And Mike really got his asswhipped...

You didn't see him rubbing LL's face and trying to kiss him and shit..? Talking about he loved him..??!?!

I"m STILL waiting on me one of you guys claiming MT was teh best to name one an opponent he fought that is or will be considered one of teh greatest the sport has seen...I've already said that the big names Mike fought and beat, were on their way out, and the other big names he fought beat his ass down...I'm wondering if anybody even watches boxing, and sees what tall men with jabs do to short stocky dudes...

Ali wasn't a puncher persay...

See, this is what I'm saying, you're debating, and not really knowing what is being said...

Bet you didn't even read the part where it said:

Various criteria were used for the voting: what percentage of fights by each boxer resulted as knockout wins, how many knockouts and knockout streaks each boxer had, what important rivals he knocked out during his career, and who he couldn't knock out

There is a difference between a boxer and a puncher...Ali didn't make the list, he wasn't a "knockout" type fighter so to speak, but I bet you saw sukkas gettin' knocked the fuck out in them clips...Ali was a head hunter...He used his speed and agility to overwhelm opponents...As said, Ali hit a nigga 11 times in 4 seconds...Find something to this effect written about Mike Tyson anywhere, and I'll shut the fuck up:

Ali was named "Fighter of the Year" by Ring Magazine more times than any other fighter, and was involved in more Ring Magazine "Fight of the Year" bouts than any other fighter. He defeated more International Boxing Hall of Fame inductees than any other fighter, next to his idol Sugar Ray Robinson, and is himself an inductee. He is also one of only three boxers to be named "Sportsman of the Year" by Sports Illustrated. He is widely regarded as the greatest Heavyweight champion of all time, and one of the pound for pound best in boxing's history.

Again, name ONE fighter Mike Tyson beat that wasn't on the virge of retiring that is hall of fame material...

Actually 3 fighters A....Moore, Liston and Foreman. All three of which carried a ton more talent than anyone Tyson ever faced. You know, there are only three fighters that Tyson faced on the list and he only beat one of them (Razor Ruddock).

The more I think about it, Tyson may have been fortunate to become a Pro when he did, as it appears the level of talent available to him while he was fighting was mediocre at best.

Is it possible that Tyson was OVERATED?

Shit man, I can't believe I'm still having this conversation, LoL...Clearly, Ali fought, and beat the top heavyweights of his era...Not just heavyweights, the TOP heavyweights...Mike Tyson roared through the division, and owned the 80's, but he never fought the caliber of fighters Alid did...

Shit man, you need to watch the rumble in the jungle...George Foreman, then 22 or so, had DROPPED Joe Frazier in the 2nd round...Joe Frazier was notorious for having a stout chin, and if I'm not mistaken, that's the only time he's ever been knocked out or down...George Foreman, on that list of punchers is the first modern heavyweight mentioned...

Dude, Foreman hit...Fucking hard...

He hit Ali so many times, so hard to the body...Ali layed on the ropes, taking them shots, and WAS STILL TALKING SHIT TO GF in his ear, telling him he hit like a sissy...And THEN dropped Foreman in the 9th...

Shit...

The intricate nature of youth...............

QUOTE(RIMFIRE)Is it possible that Tyson was OVERATED?

VERY fucking possible...

Nobody is going to be able to offer me up a name...Just that Mike, when he faced some great fighters, got his ass beat down...No excuses when he fought Holyfield or Lewis...

Of Ali's 5 losses, 4 of them were near the end of his career...Did I mention he lost 3 years of boxing to that funky ass draft..?

Anybody else want to come to Mike's rescue here..?
