For all its teen dreams, there's no doubt that Smallville has the power to lure you in...The guy that played Lex Luthor was simply the best portrayal of the character ever IMO..But they whole thing with Smallville is that Superman is the disguise rather than the other way around...His portrayal of Clark Kent gives him crazy depth, and he has tons of stuff to fall back on...Plus, he's never worn the suit in the show, trailers of him in the suit after the end of Season 8, with a movie SE budget instead of the already impressive shit they do on TV...I'm telling you, a Smallville movie would own Returns like nobody's business...

Yeah I never doubted how good Rosenbaum is as Lex. He is the best Thespian to play The Bald One. Even Spacey wasn't really bad in the role and Routh was very good as Supes. I just can't take another Supes vs Luthor plot...We need to see Superman going at it against someone at or close to his in equal strength. Not since Zod have we seen it and the Hulk movie showed how cool it could be. Millar could be a genius but maybe he can just continue the story after Singer follows up with the next one. I've noticed that Singer gets tired of Superhero properties after two anyway.. ;)

[center]Where is Warner Bros Going With Superman?
Image
As our Erik Davis reported over the weekend, Warner Bros and DC Comics are in the midst of rehashing their strategy, opting for the slow and steady route. But there's one franchise that has his "reinvention" movie, as it were: Superman. Word is, Warner Bros is utterly torn as to what to do with him.

Variety's Anne Thompson reports that the studio is really taking their time in deciding what to do, and how Bryan Singer will play into it. At this point, despite all the rumors and excited quotes from Singer, no one is working on a Superman script.

Surprisingly, they're with the majority of fans on this one, and feel that the movie didn't revive the character the way they wanted, or the way they know it can be done. (You really have changed things, Christopher Nolan.) Thompson was told that the studio is making the Man of Steel a top priority -- and if Singer is willing "to go in the right direction," they'll keep him, if not, he's off the property. One executive freely admitted that "it might be better to start from scratch."

Remember, Mark Millar and a "big name action director" who had connections at Warner Bros were readying themselves to make a Superman pitch. Millar claimed the world would know by December. Given that such sharks are circling, I won't be surprised if Warners does start from scratch. I'm as perplexed as anyone as to where Singer can go from Superman Returns. For a healthy franchise, they're going to have to reboot, and leave Returns in that misty category of a Donner long delayed sequel.

What do you think? Reboot or continue Singer's storyline?

Never should have brought the kid into it man...I'd settle for a reboot if it is to be in the mold of Hulk and The Incredible Hulk...

Exactly my sentiments. All we need is a baddie who can physically give Supes a run for his money & much action.
Doomsday is my first pick,Darksied or Zod even..

Darksied...

That's who I like...He has the right amount of menace, rather than Doomsday bringing the chaos factor...

[center] Warner Bros. Confirms Superman Reboot
Source: Superherohype.com
August 22, 2008

Just a few days after this article was posted, Warner Bros. Pictures Group President Jeff Robinov has told The Wall Street Journal that the studio is going to be reintroducing Superman. We assume this will be similar to how Louis Leterrier's The Incredible Hulk was a reboot of Ang Lee's Hulk. Here is what the article says:

Warner Bros. also put on hold plans for another movie starring multiple superheroes -- known as "Batman vs. Superman" -- after the $215 million "Superman Returns," which had disappointing box-office returns, didn't please executives. "'Superman' didn't quite work as a film in the way that we wanted it to," says Mr. Robinov. "It didn't position the character the way he needed to be positioned." "Had 'Superman' worked in 2006, we would have had a movie for Christmas of this year or 2009," he adds. "But now the plan is just to reintroduce Superman without regard to a Batman and Superman movie at all."

The article also talks about Warner Bros. adapting other DC properties over the new few years. "By 2011, Mr. Robinov plans for DC Comics to supply the material for up to two of the six to eight tent-pole films he hopes Warner Bros. will have in the pipeline by then," it says. Those projects will likely be about single characters at first, and will be darker much like The Dark Knight:

With "Batman vs. Superman" and "Justice League" stalled, Warner Bros. has quietly adopted Marvel's model of releasing a single film for each character, and then using those movies and their sequels to build up to a multicharacter film. "Along those lines, we have been developing every DC character that we own," Mr. Robinov says.

Like the recent Batman sequel -- which has become the highest-grossing film of the year thus far -- Mr. Robinov wants his next pack of superhero movies to be bathed in the same brooding tone as "The Dark Knight." Creatively, he sees exploring the evil side to characters as the key to unlocking some of Warner Bros.' DC properties. "We're going to try to go dark to the extent that the characters allow it," he says. That goes for the company's Superman franchise as well.

The studio is set to announce its plans for future DC movies in the next month. For now, though, it is focused on releasing four comic-book films in the next three years, including a third Batman film, a new film reintroducing Superman, and two movies focusing on other DC Comics characters. Movies featuring Green Lantern, Flash, Green Arrow, and Wonder Woman are all in active development.
